A LOVING LAMENT

In the whisper of an
      evening's greeting
Here alone I think of you
In the silent darkness of
      a winter's invitation
I think of time's gone
      and smile in soft
      lament
Of us in the prime of times
      On a path through
            forest cathedrals
In the dewy mists
      of a Spring day
Through the green
      serenades of cloistered
            bamboos
Along the river banks
      our feet slipping on
            the wet leaves
In the placid pools
      dancing from rock
            to rock
In gleeful play
Under the thundering
      rush of a river's fall
Our faces kissed with
      ice cold spray
Holding on to each other
      in joyful joining
Among the high altars
      of a tropical
            hideaway
Dreaming of everlasting
      peace in a
            loving lament
