Scroll down and read the following sentence ONE TIME ONLY
(You're almost there.)
(Just a bit more.)
(You're so close... just...)
(... A little bit further)
(OK, you made it.
Now, read This sentence:)
"FINISHED FILES ARE THE RESULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC STUDY COMBINED
WITH THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS."
Now count aloud the number of F's in the sentence. COUNT THEM ONLY ONCE, then
immediately scroll down till you see the answer.
A little farther...
Not again!
Sorry, I couldn't resist
OK, here's the answer:
There are six F's in the sentence.
One of average intelligence finds three of them.
If you spotted four, you're above average.
If you got five, you can turn your nose at most anybody.
If you caught six, you are a genius.
There is no catch. Many people forget the 'of's. The human brain tends to see them as V's and not F's. Pretty weird, huh?
This was forwarded to me by my niece Susan.
After taking this quiz, it occurred to me that this is typical of how we view spiritual truths. We all have so many preconceived notions based upon our religions, cultures, traditions etc. that we sometimes "can't see the forest for the trees." In other words, we all "know" that the "ofs" in our lives are spelled "ovs" so although we read the scriptures, spend time in prayer and meditation, hear enlightened teachers and so forth, so much of what we hear is filtered through our own belief systems that we tend to find exactly what we expected to find in the first place! How much of our beliefs are based in divine revelation and how much on personal tastes and prejudices?
The Christian Apostle Paul explained this marvelously when he wrote I Cor. 13:12. He likened our quest for understanding to starring into a piece of darkened glass. What we mainly behold is our own reflection, our own beliefs are verified; God likes what I like and hates what I hate. In this way, God becomes the reflection of our own highest ideals. But if we continue to meditate upon the glass, allowing our preconceived notions to fade away; if we allow God to be God, then in time we may be blessed to catch a glimpse of the Truth beyond the illusory reflection.
This exercise illustrates this point wonderfully!
What did I score?
Well, let's just say I can't look down my nose at anyone!
