In Harmony
Without harmony, song becomes chant
mixed voices of different tone and timbre
raise humming to an angelic chorus
Would a king come to his feet
for a hallelujah sung by johnny one-note?
Does the earth move with the onanist’s song?
Of all hues and voices are mighty choirs made,
young and old,
man and woman.
Both black and white keys play concertos.
With horns, strings, winds, and drums
comes the symphony grande.
Take plainsong for its worth but
Earth needs all sounds together to make
The Music of the Spheres.
