Holiday Basket

Crocheted Basket
Here is one that is so simple and quick for
a holiday gift or to decorate the Chrismtas tree!
Made with thread, it is about 3 inches across the
bottom but it could be made with bigger thread.
You could use yarn and a Size F or G hook but it
be quite large.

Ch 6, join with a sl st to form a ring.

Ch3,11 dc in ring, join with a sl st in top of beginning ch-3, 12 dc in all.

Ch 4,*(2dc in next dc)twice,ch 1, rep from * around, end 2 dc in next dc,dc in same st as beg ch-4, join to 3rd st of beginning ch-4.

Sl st into ch-1 sp, ch 1,sc in same sp,ch 3, * skip 2 dc, sc in next dc,ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp,ch 3, rep from * around, end sl st in first sc.

(Scallop = sc,hdc,2 dc,hdc,sc in one sp) Sl st into ch-3 sp, ch 1, in same sp work scallop,*scallop in next ch-3 sp, rep from * around,join to first sc.

Sl st to 2nd dc of first scallop, ch 1,sc in same st, *ch 4,sc in second dc of next scallop,rep from * around, end ch 4,sl st in first sc.

Sl st into ch 4 space, ch 3, 4 dc in same sp,ch 1. *5 dc in next sp, ch 1, rep from * around, join.

Ch 1, sc in same st as join, *hdc in next st, 2 dc in next st, tr in next st, 2 dc in next st,sc in ch-1 sp, sc in next st, rep from * around, end sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Thread a ribbon into needle and bring up from back of work between the 4th and 5th dc of any 5-dc group of Row 6. The basket is folded in half and tacked together at the top.

You can make the bow if you wish and fill the basket with holly and pine cones.
