Mrs. Pletyak has been teaching at Monte Vista since 1989 and really likes the wonderful children, parents, teachers and principal. She has also worked before as secretary and administrative assistant. She received her undergraduate degree in Liberal Studies from Cal State University Northridge, then earned her teaching credential and Masters in Education from UCLA. A special memory from her years of teaching is when her friend's son was in her class and read his first word - he giggled with happiness. "I saw the miracle of learning."
Mrs. Pletyak grew up in Deerwood, Minnesota. She remembers fondly playing near and swimming in the lake across the street from her home and playing in the snow. She has five brothers and sisters, so she had many siblings to play games with when they were snowed in. She has traveled to Europe visiting Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France. She saw how other people live and feels very fortunate to live in the USA. She wants to visit more of the states.
Mrs. Pletyak's favorite children's book is "Dogzilla" by Dave Pilkey. Her favorite adult book is "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz. Her favorite food is carrots. She enjoys classical music, Mozart is a favorite. Her favorite movie is "Sound of Music." Her favorite animal is the dog. She has two of her own - Molly and Bailey, both are miniature schnauzers. She enjoys playing with them in her free time as well as playing piano, reading and playing games with friends.
