(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
Matthew 6:32 (KJV)
"For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
Matthew 6:32 (NASB)
For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
Matthew 6:32 (NIV)
There is a beautiful story about the visitor at a school for the deaf and dumb. He wrote
questions on the blackboard for the children, and one was: "Why has God made me to
hear and speak, and made you deaf and dumb?"
The little ones were stunned by that terrible "Why?" Finally one little girl
rose and, with tears streaming down her face, wrote on the board with firm lines,
"Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight!"
Even so, Father! O, that we might have the faith of the little ones.

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and
of selfdiscipline" 2 Timothy 1:7.
God quickens us with:
1) Power: equal proportions of poise and passion to make life stimulating. God gives an
ample measure of courage to meet life's challenges, too. "So do not throw away your
confidence; it will be richly rewarded" Hebrews 10:35. It isn't so much
selfconfidence as it is Godconfidence. The conditions are persistence and consistence. We
apply and God supplies.
2) Love: the stamp of a Christian life that certifies us as His epistles and apostles.
Jesus in love came to save sinners, not to condemn and punish us, and this gives us great
hope. "All men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another" John
13:35. Dryden said: "Love is a passion which kindles honor into noble acts."
"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do
with punishment" 1 John 4:18. Fear is replaced with a steadfast love that becomes our
motivation for everything we do in life. We would also do well to remember that a healthy
selflove is taught by our Teacher: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Our Friend
died for us, too.
3) Selfdiscipline: that gift from the Holy Spirit that enables us to be reasonable and
willing, and which disables us from sin and its leaches that sap our spirit and senses.
"It is better to be slowtempered than famous; it is better to have selfcontrol than
to control an army" Proverbs 16:32 TLB. Selfcontrol implies selfdenial and
selfexamination. When we have these, we can then have selfrespect, as well.
All these together form a triad of moral and physical strength, a triage of God's immense
and immediate love for us, and a triangle of the Trinity that surrounds and fortifies us.
In 2 Timothy 1:7 we are given sanctified provisions and preservatives that we may prevail.

"Arise, and depart." - Micah 2:10 |
"And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither." - Revelation 11:12
|
Arise, and take thy last journey." And what know we of the journey? And what know we of the country to which we are bound? A little we have read thereof, and somewhat has been revealed to us by the Spirit; but how little do we know of the realms of the future! |
"Come up hither." This should be to the saints the subject of joyful anticipation. Instead of dreading the time when we shall leave this world to go unto the Father, we should be panting for the hour of our emancipation. |

But my mouth would
encourage you; comfort from my lips would bring you relief. Job
16:5 (NIV) by Cathy Vinson This describes one of the most often repeated scenarios. The
combining of these unequal forces seems to produce a dynamic that beckons God into the
picture. God seems to be drawn to this unequal balance, so much so that He will bring His
own people into a place of powerlessness just to fit the bill for His involvement. Without number are God's areas of expertise. When we speak of the
One in the universe over that has undertaken the cause of the powerless, there is only "to HELP the powerless..." Go to where the help is. No
one is so in tune and in touch with the suffering of the weak one stacked up against the
one with MORE might, stature, position, authority, age, resources, influence. Though the
most mighty Himself, no one understands the feelings and perspective of the powerless who
time and time again is positioned AGAINST the one with more. He knows within the weak one
on his way to face the Where, where is the Helper? Go to where help is found. No where
is it found like in the One who "helps." Don't you adore Him as the One who helps the powerless? If you
are powerless, perhaps there is much of God's initiative that has brought you to this very
place. It's at this place that You might be linked with Him. It's at this place where He
might truly HELP you.
