Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before
the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.
Jude 24
This wonderful doxology that appears in Jude extols the
incomparable ability of God to accomplish and perfect our eternal salvation. Wow! What a
wonderful Savior. He can present me faultless before Gods glory. That takes a lot of
love and a lot of forgiveness to present me before God without faults. Jesus alone can do
this. Jesus does it with love and joy. (PBB)
No sin is too big for God to pardon, and none too small for habit to magnify.

Jeffrey Burton Russell wrote a book titled The Devil. In it he gives us a guideline of the
devil's work. Sometimes we wonder who and what is behind some terrible thing that is
happening in our lives: "Evil is meaningless, senseless destruction. Evil destroys
and does not build; it rips and it does not mend; it cuts and it does not bind. It strives
always and everywhere to annihilate, to turn to nothing. To take all being and render it
nothing is the heart of evil."
Those who try to live by the God standard sometimes come up against someone who is bent on
destroying, and we can't understand it. Mr. Russell has explained it well.

"Art thou become like unto us?" - Isaiah 14:10

"Having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." - 2 Peter 1:4 |
It is the easiest thing in the world to give a lenient verdict when oneself is to be tried; but O, be just and true here. Be just to all, but be rigorous to yourself. Remember if it be not a rock on which you build, when the house shall fall, great will be the fall of it. |
Follow after holiness; it is the Christian's crown and glory. An unholy church! it is useless to the world, and of no esteem among men. It is an abomination, hell's laughter, heaven's abhorrence. |

In What Do You Glory by Cathy Vinson

What is it we glory in? a good week, a strong ministry, hard work, a sense of purpose? It's hard to fault these, but do they enter into our worship? Paul gives us clarity: "we who worship by the Spirit of God..." The Pharisee of Luke 18:11 came into God's house with worship in his heart, but it was "about himself." It's possible for any of us to do this. But no matter how our week's been, we can enjoy the Spirit's willingness to worship Jesus. We are grateful to partake of this shared spiritual privilege with others. "who glory in Christ Jesus..." He is marvelous in our eyes (Mk 12:11)! The focus of our worship is realized. He's beautiful, and we've been granted access into His chambers (S of S 1:4). We stand humbly grateful for eyes to behold. "who put no confidence in the flesh." There is no question here: "no confidence," that is, not any. Here we must beware. Paul's choice of rejected attainments in this passage sheds light on what we easily put confidence in. Is it the family name we have been born into, our education, our ability to keep the 10 Commandments, our zeal, our disciplined lifestyle? Let us bring no self-deception to the altar of God. Glory only in God and the privilege granted you to worship, not in yourself. "For it is by grace that you have been saved, and that NOT of yourselves. It is the gift of God" (Eph 2:8). Do not return from the altar having only prayed to yourself, and worse yet, returning unjustified (Lk 18:14). Send a note to Cathy Vinson , the writer of this devotion. |
