But my mouth would encourage you; comfort from my lips would bring you relief.

Find So Doing by Cathy Vinson |
The master of the
house entrusts to his servant out of what is his own. In his long journey abroad, how his
resources have been handled determines the verdict for the worker...when that time finally
comes for his return. How do we prepare for the return of the Lord? What does it mean in day-to-day terms? Blessed is that servant whom He finds so doing. What is doing? "Doing (poieo) signifies to make, to do, to adopt a way of expressing by act the thought and feelings..." In this parable of the faithful servant, Mt 24:45-51, the doing is giving food to his fellowservants in season. The parable of the talents follows shortly after, Mt 25:14-30. The "man going abroad" quite clearly expects to receive back what is his own...with gain! The silver invested would increase just as surely as "all over the world this gospel is producing fruit and growing" (Col 1:6). What did the receiver of the 5 talents do? He traded. He worked, labored, performed out, ministered. He "traded" in such a way that the "eternal things" in his heart were performed out and brought gain to the master. What are the true talents of you and I that we need to be about investing? It seems imperative that we distinguish what it is to be found "so doing." Those who are welcomed into the joy of their Master and the Kingdom prepared for them are those who showed their blessedness by feeding the thirsty, clothing the naked, taking in the stranger, visiting the prisoner...(Mt 25: 31-46). Aren't the things we are to be about are the things which invest the Kingdom into people? Jesus was lovingly preparing us for a Day that comes. Let us keep and ever keep investing eternity into PEOPLE. . |
