Letter from the Author:

Dear Readers,

In addition to dogs and four children, my husband and I have raised all sorts of critters out here in our ranch-style home in the burbs of San Diego. We've had everything from chickens and exotic pheasants to horses and even pigs. That's part of the reason my books usually feature some kind of animal. In my newest novel, UNTAMED, the beast of the hour is a wild buffalo and her rare white offspring. As many of you know, buffalo meant survival to the plains Indians, specifically the Northern Cheyenne Indians featured in this story.

My heroine, Josie, is a woman who swears she will never marry or have children, not after being the chief cook and bottle washer for her stepfather and 15 brothers!  Unfortunately, she falls for Daniel, a half-Cheyenne Indian agent—and a man who already has four-year-old twin sons. Here's what my publisher has to say about the rest of the story:

"Described by Affaire de Coeur as a brilliant, funny, and mesmerizing storyteller, Sharon Ihle, the beloved author of MAGGIE'S WISH, thrills her fans with a heart-stirring tale set in the wilds of Montana Territory as she delves into the longings of two unforgettable characters who dare to hope for new love..."

As usual, I traveled onsite for this book to Miles City, Montana, then down to the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation. I fell in love with the area and plan to return there someday.

In closing, I guess I should mention the hottest topic in town—the millenium. What are your plans for New Year's Eve?  Larry and I plan to join our daughter and her family in London, then head out to Rome or Venice to celebrate the New Year. I hope whatever your plans are that your New Year is wonderful, and that you also enjoy UNTAMED.

Excerpt from UNTAMED:

Heroine Josie is explaining to Hero Daniel why she trapped him into a forced proposal...

"I don't care whose fault it is. The point is that I got dragged into your life against my will. Besides," Josie added defensively, "I couldn't think of anything else to do but marry you."
"Damn, woman, you might have at least asked me for suggestions."
"Oh, what are you so worried about? It's not as if we'll have a real marriage. It'll just look that way until I get the loan."
Daniel raised one eyebrow. "Father Van Der Velden is going to marry us tonight. How do you figure that isn't real?"
Josie rolled her eyes. "You just said that you don't ever want to get married again, right?"
    "Now you're talking my language."
"Well, if you marry me but I don't live with you except on a temporary basis until I get my ranch, then you'll be married without actually having to put up with a wife. Best of all, no one else can trap you because you'll legally be married. It's perfect for you, can't you see that?"
Looking back out at the river, Daniel puzzled on this a minute, then shook his head. "All I know is that I can't think of anything worse than having you for a wife. Not only are you ornery as a mule with a burr in its blanket, you aren't worth your salt when it comes to wifely duties."
"But that's my part of the bargain," she quickly assured him. "I get my buffalo and a husband's name, and until spring, you get the best cook west of the Mississippi, a seamstress without equal, and the finest housekeeper in all the Territories."
"I do?" Daniel looked over his shoulder. "Where the hell is she?"
