Letter from the Author:Born bad, that's what I am.
My darlings:
It's taken June about twenty tries to get me to write a little note to you all, because I am Born Bad. Right now it's about five degrees outside in Northern Vermont, I'm tucked into my recliner with my laptop on my lap, and our latest kitten (Mr. Magoo) has gone from nibbling at the pink roses I bought to cheer myself up to attacking my fingers as they fly over the keyboard (I'm a fast typist). There are worse problems in this world.
I have tons of books coming out—with hard-working writers it always seems to be feast or famine. PRINCE OF MAGIC was out in December (appearing in bookstores sporadically between November first and the third week in December) and I've got a story in a Harlequin anthology out right now entitled MY SECRET ADMIRER. It's called "Dangerous Lover," and if you've got a passion for television as I do, then think Michael from La Femme Nikita kidnaps Ally McBeal and has his wicked way with her. It's wicked and sexy and ridiculous and fun.
Then there's THE RIGHT MAN, a Harlequin American in March that is, dare I say it, a time travel in disguise. The Powers That Be decided that if my heroine was going back in time she might as well go back to 1949, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Harlequin, rather than the 1920s or the 1890s as I'd originally proposed. Now 1949 was a really boring time, but I'm amenable, and besides, since I was one year old then I decided I'd make a cameo appearance. Charming little Krissie is my first appearance. I also threw a few other family members in for fun.To top it off, there's a new suspense from Onyx entitled SHADOW LOVER, where the hero isn't demented, doesn't kill anyone, and while he's slightly wicked, he's basically a decent guy. For once everything doesn't have to be gloom and darkness! Only slightly dark.
I'm in the midst of writing another historical for Zebra—think Brad Pitt as a medieval fool...and having a blast. Then on to write mainstream suspense for Mira (we don't call 'em Romantic Suspense because that's a marketing kiss of death, but that's what they really are) and more books for Harlequin American. I'll be travelling a lot as well: Houston, Cincinnati, Florida, Los Angeles, Chicago, Savannah, and New Jersey, while dealing with an 11-year old, a 14-year old and a 49-year old (my splendid husband). Plus the dog and four cats.I hope you enjoy the new books. They're a varied bunch, but they're fun and sexy and full of surprises (at least I hope so).
Cheers,
Anne Stuart
