LaFoy, Leslie - IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT (Bantam - 1997) After reading LaFoy's LADY RECKLESS, I was so excited at having discovered a wonderful new writer that I immediately trotted to my local bookstore and picked up her first book, IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT. I finished it at breakneck speed and recommend it just as heartily as I do its sequel. What a thrill it is to find such great reads. These belong on the keeper shelf. ~Angie M. (Narada883@aol.com)
LaFoy, Leslie - LADY RECKLESS (Bantam - 1998) LADY RECKLESS is fabulous! Readers would really enjoy it because the characters are so real and the banter between them is excellent. Also, the plot is wonderfully suspenseful. I honestly didn't see how the story was going to end until the very last pages. And what an ending—satisfying in every sense of the word! ~Angie M. Landis, Jill Marie - GLASS BEACH (Jove - 1998) (4) In nineteenth-century Hawaii, a recently widowed woman tormented by her past finds herself drawn to her deceased husband's half-Hawaiian illegitimate son. An exotic setting, a well researched and developed story, and an interesting hero help make this book a cut above most romances I've read lately. ~Elena. P.
Landis, Jill Marie - JUST ONCE (Jove - 1997) (5) Jemma runs away from her father, who expects her to marry a rich, handsome man. She wants the right to decide her own future, so she trades places with another and finds herself alone in sultry New Orleans. Jemma runs into Hunter Boone and believes him to be her protector, but she must convince him of that. This book has just the right amount of humor, adventure, and romance. Fantastic! ~Carol C.
