MacAllister, Heather - LONG SOUTHERN NIGHTS  (Harl. Tempt. 656) (4)
I really enjoyed this book. It is the story of a Yankee industrialist who establishes himself in a small Georgia town. He alienates the town's social leaders, then finds he needs their support to close a deal with a Japanese firm. This is a fun read with a lot of humor centering on the social ineptitude of computer geeks. ~Jean M. (huntermason@earthlink.net)

MacNeil, Joanie - TIME FOR LOVE, A  (E-book; New Concepts - 1999) (3)
Claire Vincent has been widowed for almost a year when her former boss offers her an interior designing job. This is the chance she needs to become independent and move herself and her twin sons out of her parents' home. She reluctantly leaves the boys with their grandparents for a few more weeks while she travels to Diamond Lake Caravan Park on business.

When Claire arrives, she is shocked to see her high school flame, Nick Sheridan. Burned by his former wife, he had retreated to the Australian park in order to keep himself busy while awaiting a new job as a contractor. Nick is surprised to see Claire again, and even more surprised to find that the reckless attraction he felt for her as a teenager is twice as powerful now. Although their first few meetings end in arguments or misunderstandings, Claire is equally attracted to him. But she has difficulty trusting Nick because of her husband's past indiscretions.

A TIME FOR LOVE is a heartwarming romance about first love and second chances. Claire and Nick have been hurt in the past and must now overcome assumptions and attempt to communicate with one another again. Although not as sensual as some books, Ms. MacNeil skillfully turns up the heat, keeping conservative views to the forefront. The Australian setting is interesting, while the scenes with Claire's sons add an endearing touch and further define the hero's character. Overall, I prefer a faster pace and more action; but if you're in the market for a sweet love story, I would recommend A TIME FOR LOVE. ~Pat Cavender for Bookbug on the Web

Madden, Mickee - LOVE EVERLASTIN’  (Pinnacle - 1998) (3+)
Winston Ian Connery is a psychic who uses his gift to hunt killers, yet he feels he can only experience emotion through others and that no woman could ever love a man who is capable of knowing her every thought. At his lowest point, Winston returns to the place where he witnessed something miraculous—Baird House, long-rumored to be haunted. He has to know if what he saw was real, and he strongly senses a psychic energy in the house, as if it had its own "soul." On the same day the house seems to lose its energy, Winston finds a beautiful, naked woman who calls herself Deliah. An attraction grows between them, but Winston doesn't know very much about her—or if she's even human, for that matter. Besides Deliah's many secrets, he feels he's incapable of love; but can she teach him to love? Can Winston love a woman who may not be human?

This book is the third in a series concerning the mysterious Baird House in Scotland, following EVERLASTIN’ and DUSK BEFORE DAWN. While it's not essential to read the other books first, I feel it would greatly benefit the reader to do so because LOVE EVERLASTIN’ is a direct continuation of DUSK BEFORE DAWN. I found LOVE EVERLASTIN’ to be an enjoyable and very different kind of ghost story, and readers can be hopeful that the story will continue in Madden's next book (it appears likely since a few major plot points are left open). ~Karen Witkowski for Bookbug on the Web
