McClone, Melissa - FIANCÉ FOR THE NIGHT  (Silh. Yours Truly 90) (4)
Cassandra Daniels has a problem, and "Mr. Three-Piece Armani Suit" may be just the answer. Cassandra, the avant-garde black sheep of a very conventional family, finds herself in need of a staid business-minded fiancé...and she needs him fast. How else will her parents be persuaded to stop sending eligible bachelors her way?

Troy McKnight is a diligent and methodical man, poised on the brink of attaining his goal of a corner office and partnership in a venture capital firm. When Cassandra approaches this conservative-looking hunk with the idea of playing the part of her fiancé for just one night, he is intrigued by the off- the-wall suggestion. In what is, for him, a very uncharacteristic move, he agrees to Cassandra's plan. But their "temporary" relationship is soon beset by potential disasters. As one evening stretches into next week and beyond, they begin to realize that the love bug can take a "bite" when you least expect it...or want it.

Ms. McClone has penned a lighthearted, fast-paced story that will satisfy the romantic in you. Full of quirky scenarios, FIANCÉ FOR THE NIGHT is a short, sweet and playful romp—recommended reading for a time when you want a bit of light diversion. ~Connie Ramsdell for Bookbug on the Web

McClone, Melissa - IF THE RING FITS  (Silh. Romance 1431 - 2/00) (4)
American heiress Christina Armstrong is accident-prone, to say the least. Among the press, she's already known for her recent debacle at the White House. Now, Christine wants to keep a low profile, hoping to eventually find the love of her life and live an ordinary lifestyle. However, when she attends Prince Richard de Thierry's birthday party, she immediately finds herself smack-dab in the middle of another fiasco—and she might not get out of it this time.

Prince Richard de Thierry is looking for the perfect wife who would stand by his side while he rules his beloved San Montico Island. First, he must prove to his family and the islanders that the legend surrounding the royal engagement ring is anything but real. Legend has it that the first woman whose finger fits the ring is the Prince's true love. But he never expected that woman to be the clumsy American, Christina Armstrong!

Richard and Christina each have their own agenda for the future, neither of which includes marriage to the other, so they work doubly hard to disprove the legend. But as they go about trying to show they don't love one another, the power of romance has other ideas!  IF THE RING FITS is a sweet blend of romance and fairy tale magic. Melissa McClone gives readers a charming story that will leave them with a warm, fuzzy feeling. ~Yvonne Hering for Bookbug on the Web

McDavid, Cathy - WILD NOTION  (Neighborhood Press - 1998)
In a seedy part of downtown Phoenix, Claren Phillips and her eleven-year-old son Eric have just finished the unpleasant task of collecting rent on the apartments she owns when they witness a brutal mugging. Terrified, Claren's first thought is to quickly get away, but Eric talks her into helping the victim before he is killed. She turns on the truck headlights and the frightened muggers flee. The wounded man is in need of medical attention, but he attempts to get up to run away, explaining that he can't risk being found by the police. Against her better judgment, but believing all is not as it appears, Claren enlists Eric's help and together they manage to get the man into the truck before he loses consciousness. She comes up with a crazy plan while driving home...

Claren lives on a secluded ranch in the mountains with her mother and three children, and because she needs help running the ranch, she makes her "guest" an offer—food, lodging, and pocket money in return for work. Desperately needing a place to hide and believing the remote location to be a safe haven, the man known only to them as Tanner accepts the offer. Tanner learns a lot more than how to run a ranch in the days ahead. He finds himself falling in love with Claren and her family, and he realizes just how incomplete his life has been. But there is the matter of his past to contend with, and it's about to catch up with him. His secrets are finally revealed, which puts Claren's family in jeopardy—and Tanner is in danger of losing everything.

WILD NOTION is an exciting story that is nicely balanced with humor, romance and sensuality. Cathy McDavid is a good storyteller (the story rates 3+), but I found the editing to be poor (rating of 2). If you can overlook the editing, you are in for a fun, action-packed read. ~Carol Carter for Bookbug on the Web
