Rogers, Evelyn - GOLDEN MAN  (Love Spell - 1999) (4+)
Handsome, sexy Stephen Marshall is the 39-year-old President of the United States. The job of Commander and Chief is stressful enough without his single status posing problems at every turn. President Marshall has no desire to become tied down with a female even if White House protocol dictates otherwise. Tired of receiving stern lectures from his Chief of Staff and disgusted with media speculation about his "monkish lifestyle," the President announces at an impromptu meeting that the next single woman to walk through his office door will become his steady girlfriend.

Ginny Baxter is a single mom and a clerk in a Washington D.C. area auto-repair shop. While on tour at the White House, she goes in search of a bathroom, takes a wrong turn and ends up sprawled on the floor of the Oval Office, surrounded by gun-toting Secret Service Agents. This small mistake is about to make Ginny the most envied woman in America.

For Steve and Ginny, dating holds political pitfalls that create the impossibility of any lasting relationship. It doesn't help that Ginny's 16-year-old son is not enamored of Steve or the office he holds. GOLDEN MAN is a hot, spicy, sensitive love story with a hero who is every woman's dream and a "commoner" heroine struggling to survive among the Washington elite. Evelyn Rogers successfully brings to the reader a quality of writing that tastefully touches on issues from today's headlines. She touches the heart of every woman who dares to dream of loving a man whose choice is to live his life as a public servant. GOLDEN MAN is the ideal book to jump start the New Year!  ~Olivia Holton for Bookbug on the Web

Continuing her Texas Empires series, Evelyn Rogers gives us a bold look at how brave men and women carved out their momentous destinies in the untamed land called Texas. Evelyn Rogers has crafted an exciting, emotional romance that is sure to please. The characters are portrayed in such a realistic and touching manner that you will fall in love with them. LONGHORN, the third and final book in the Texas Empire series, following CROWN OF GLORY and LONE STAR, is a most satisfying conclusion to the Hardin family legacy. Although the book stands on its own, you will definitely want to read the previous two books in the series. Enjoy!  ~Yvonne Hering for Bookbug on the Web

Rogers, Evelyn - SECOND OPINION  (Love Spell - 1999) (4+)
Having just signed her divorce papers, geriatrics doctor Charlotte Hamilton stops for a celebratory drink in a bar located along San Antonio's colorful Riverwalk. She knew that ending her relationship with husband Roger was definitely for the best, and if she'd ever had any doubts they were discarded with his parting shot, "You were always a lousy lover."  So why was she feeling so depressed now?

Charlotte is sipping her second margarita when good-looking sportswriter, Sam Blake, slides onto the stool next to hers and orders a drink. Just the sound of his voice is enough to turn her head so she can get a better look. Now here is a man who beats her ex in the looks department, hands down. Through a tequila haze, Charlie decides this superb male specimen might be just the one to give her a much needed SECOND OPINION on her lovemaking skills.

Dr. Hamilton was not the only one checking out the "scenery."  Sam had been admiring her, too, while waiting for his pal Roger to show up. Poor old Rog had finally broken free from his cold fish of a wife, and Sam felt it was his duty as a friend to help him celebrate. Assuming Roger had a good reason for being late, his thoughts turn to practicing his bedroom skills on the gorgeous woman sitting next to him. Several drinks later, Charlie and Sam exchange first names and begin to feel comfortable with each other, leading to an evening of wild passion. The next morning, Sam wakes up in love and in lust; but Charlie is gone so he heads to the bar where they had met and bribes the bartender for information. After discovering the drink bill was paid by a Charlotte Hamilton, Sam realizes he's been romancing his friend's ex-wife and knows he would be in big trouble if Roger found out.

Can a man who has fallen head-over-heels in love convince a woman with a "sex only" attitude to marry him? Sam shamelessly uses every option at his disposal, including Dr. Hamilton's staff and her senior citizen brigade from the Golden Years Senior Home, to win her over. Meanwhile, he is trying to keep his good old buddy Roger from discovering his secret. SECOND OPINION is a hilarious, sexy love story that gives new meaning to the words "examining room" and "second opinion."  Charlie and Sam's relationship sizzles, and it's refreshing to finally meet a heroine who is on the run from matrimony, despite Mr. Wonderful's unique and determined pursuit. ~Olivia Holton for Bookbug on the Web
