Ruth Wind - Linda Windsor

Wind, Ruth - BREAKING THE RULES  (Silh. Int. Mom. 587) (5)
Mattie grew up as an orphan in a series of foster homes. Zeke grew up with an abusive father who burned him with a cigarette whenever he got angry. Mattie has longed for a husband, children and a home. Zeke, who loves children very much, has promised himself he will never have a family because he is afraid that some of his father's "badness" lurks within him. This book addresses everyone's yearning for home, love, security, stability and acceptance. I stayed up late reading it, and it will be one of my keepers for sure. I really loved this book. ~Ellen M. Wind, Ruth - MEANT TO BE MARRIED  (Silh. Spec. Edit. 1194)
If you're not already reading Ruth Wind (a.k.a. Barbara Samuel) and you like many-layered relationship stories, you might want to head to your local bookstore and get a copy of MEANT TO BE MARRIED. What a great read!  A young couple, separated by well-meaning parents in a chaotic, violent fashion, meet again twelve years later. The pain, anger, mistrust and guilt is crippling them both, but even when the layers are uncovered of what really happened, an easy solution doesn't magically evolve. This was an emotionally satisfying read and every character was fully developed. The families were not portrayed as evil. There was no black and white—just many shades of gray. Two wounded people coming to grips with their painful past. Powerful stuff!  ~Melissa P. (POLLARD_MELISSA_D@lilly.com)

Wind, Ruth - RAINSINGER  (Silh. Spec. Edit. 1031) (4+)
Winona came to claim her inheritance and found Daniel living in her house, wanting to claim his old Indian land and the trees that his great-great grandmother had planted. Very sensual and emotional. ~Marilyn H. (mlyn@jps.net)

Windsor, Linda - HI HONEY, I'M HOME  (Multnomah Publishing; Inspirational - 2/99) (4)
When Kathryn Sinclair opened her front door that night, she really didn't expect to have her carefully ordered life turned upside down...again. She found her "almost" ex and supposedly dead husband, Nick Egan, standing boldly on the doorstep declaring, "Hi Honey, I'm Home." When Kathryn is finally convinced that Nick is not some ghostly spectre, she naturally wonders where he's been for the last six years. More importantly, what does he want from her now that he's seemingly been resurrected from the dead?

Nick admits that he hadn't been the world's best husband and father before his last journalistic assignment marched him right up to, but not through, death's door. When he'd received the divorce papers just before leaving on that last trip—papers that only lacked his signature to write an end to their marriage, Kathryn had made it very clear that he was sorely lacking in the attributes she expected to find in her life mate. Six years in a prison cell, however, had taught him some very valuable lessons; and if his wife will only give him a second chance, he's sure she will discover that Nick Egan is a changed man. He knows, with every fiber of his being, that this is the case because while in that pit from hell, God had come knocking on his door...and Nick had gladly let him in. Now, with a little help from the "Big Guy," this determined man is going to resurrect not only his own life, but his failed marriage as well.

HI HONEY, I'M HOME is a sweet, and at times, humorous love story that also sends a powerful spiritual message. I didn't find the book to be "preachy" or blatantly religious in nature, but I did come away feeling uplifted and highly entertained. In my opinion, Linda Windsor has a wonderful gift for storytelling, and she uses it well in this contemporary inspirational romance. ~Connie Ramsdell for Bookbug on the Web
