Wright, Kristina - DANGEROUS CURVES (Silh. Int. Moments 917) (4+) Ex-cop Jake Cavanaugh is driving home from a fishing trip when he narrowly misses hitting "Sam" on the highway. Against his better judgment, he agrees to give her a ride to the interstate, but after they stop at a diner he phones the police for assistance. When a friend of Jake's arrives and is murdered by two men who are hunting for Sam, they make a quick escape and head for Miami to find some answers. Once there, Jake learns that Sam is a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, who reportedly murdered a federal agent and then committed suicide. They can only come up with one reason for the devious cover-up—a photo that Sam had taken one day outside of a courthouse. Determined to help clear her name and find out who is responsible, they try to track down her estranged father and a very important roll of film. In doing so, Jake and Sam run into more deadly trouble...and fall in love in the process. Kristina Wright makes her debut with this exciting "on the run" romance that delivers great characters, searing sensuality and nonstop action. The story keeps your attention until the very last word as you become involved with two likable but tortured people who are fighting for justice and, ultimately, their future together. You will also meet an equally intriguing set of good and evil secondary characters as the hero and heroine dodge several DANGEROUS CURVES in this high-speed, thrilling chase. ~Sharon Laird for Bookbug on the Web
Wulf, Jessica - GREY EAGLE'S BRIDE (Zebra - 1998) (4+) In 1851 at Fort Laramie, Dr. Gideon Murdoch dies, leaving his medical practice that provided assistance to Indians and whites to his beloved daughter Diana. At about the same time, Grey Eagle knows that his soul mate is somewhere out there. However, he is currently struggling with the insistent fatal attraction of Black Moon, whom he does not want as a mate. When Grey Eagle meets Diana he knows deep in his soul that she is the one. But she is not of Lakota blood, and she is not convinced that they have a destiny to share even though she finds him very attractive. He starts to woo her Indian style, but even as she begins to fall in love with him, neither one is prepared for the ugly tentacles of the squaw he rejected. The fourth novel in Jessica Wulf's "Bride" series is an intriguing western romance due to the top-rate characters. The lead protagonists are a brilliantly developed duo and the motivation of the villainess will remind readers of FATAL ATTRACTION. The return of players from the previous stories adds a warm feel to the novel. Though the story line is straightforward and rather simplistic, the technique seems apropos for this well-written tale of love, leaving sub-genre fans feeling entertained and knowing that they received full value and more for their money. ~Harriet Klausner
