I close my eyes
And see the sun
That's shining off of the sand
The water is cool
And clean and clear
At least from where I stand
The children play games
In the water
While loving parents watch from the land
When day is done
The children will be tired
And smiling parents will lend them a hand
But days not done
There's still much to do
Children play according to their plans
Boy's a captian of the sea
Girl's a mermaid of the deep
And they dance to an underwater band
I open my eyes
And I am alone
Gone is the sun, the beach, the sand
Those little kids
Have long since grown and gone
But their memories visit when they can
I have grown old
And this is what I've left
Memories of when life seemed grand
I've lost track of the year
I've spent here alone
It's been awhile since I've ventured off the land
Goodbye
For I don't know
When we shall meet again
I'm leaving here
For the place of my dreams
The sun, the water, the sand
