closing and folding

by Day Four

an end to what I've come to expect

what I smell
what I touch
what I see
what I hear
what I taste
is all closing and folding around me
being yelled at me
incomprehensible
like in some strange dialect

my expectations are wrought out of youth

what I chase
what I seek
what I want
what I need
what I am
is all closing and folding around me
whispered at me
unbelievable
like it's some strange truth

my life enshrouds me in what I've become

what I write
what I say
what I feel
what I make
what I do
is all closing and folding around me
passing over me
unnoticably
like I've suddenly been rendered numb

my shadow shrinks and shifts everything sideways

what I hide
what I call
what I name
what I cast
what I catch
is all closing and folding around me
so reprehensibly
like I am trapped in some horrible gaze

my voice is heard shouting sounds over rooftops

what I know
what I learn
what I share
what I shout
what I show
is all closing and folding around me
controversially
like what happens when everything suddenly stops

slip and slide over the sounds of a lullaby

what I steal
what I weep
what I thrill
what I bond
what I kill
is all closing and folding around me
endosyncratically
as if when all things suddenly die.
