Off in the Distance

by Brandon Belcher

Off in the distance ahead of me,
I see life as it appears to be.
Not knowing where I shall roam,
Along this journey I go alone.

Off in the distance I see the lights,
Lights with colors flashing bright.
Blue, red, orange lights in front of a house,
I see neighbors gather to see what came about.

Off in the distance beyond the streets,
Lies a man with dirty feet.
Hungry and tired of living this life,
He lies there waiting just to die.

Off in the distance in a lonely place,
People come along with a different face.
Anger, sorrow, happiness, depression,
All comes with the world full of corruption.

Off in the distance a baby cries,
Wanting to be held in this world full of lies.
Mother please help this baby of yours,
Not to see the faces of poor.

Off in the distance between black and white,
Not one race can give up the fight.
Always killing each other for something to prove,
Everyone's the same, we all bleed red, too.

Off in the distance I hear the screams,
Of people having horrible dreams.
Dreams which are not to their delight,
Dreams which have come to life.

Off in the distance a sudden silence,
The world we live in is quite full of violence.
No one awakes to the morning hours,
Everythings destroyed by mankinds power.
