Scene: School Monday morning

Joey: So did you sort things with Jen?

Dawson: Yeah, I guess we’re going out on Friday. (Silence while Joey thinks of what to say He doesn’t sound very pleased, she thought.) So where were you yesterday?

Joey: I was .. um with Pacey. (Joey hesitated about whether she should tell Dawson or not)

Dawson: Oh. (Dawson had a feeling something was going on but didn’t want Joey shouting at him again.)

(Pacey heads towards them but only Dawson notices him. Pacey signals to Dawson to keep quiet.)

Pacey: Boo (he screamed in Joey’s ear. She quickly jumped up.)

Joey: Oh Pacey, you idiot, you scared me.

Pacey: That was the point, Jo.

Dawson: Joey was just telling me you guys went out yesterday. (Dawson gives them a suspicious look.)

BELL

Dawson: OK I gotta get to film class Later guys.

Joey: OK bye, Dawson

(Pacey and Joey are left standing. There is an awkward silence.)

Pacey: Um.. Joey about yesterday.

Joey: Yeah

Pacey: I wanted to say sorry. I mean. I didn’t mean to kiss you. It just kinda happened.

Joey: It’s OK (Joey was a bit disappointed that Pacey didn’t want to take it further and Pacey was almost dying inside. He wasn’t sure what Joey would say and didn’t want to spoil things especially as they had been going so well.)

Pacey: So friends? (Pacey put his hand forward and Joey took it.)

Joey: Friends. (Joey smiled and they both went of as they had free periods.)

Jen: Hey Dawson

Dawson: Jen! What’s up?

Jen: Nothing much, I’m just bored. What you doing?

(Dawson had been sitting at his desk deeply into whatever it was he waswriting.)

Dawson: Oh I’m just doing my English essay.

Jen: Yeah, I was having some trouble with that.

Dawson: Well at least you got it done. I knew I shouldn’t have left it to the last minute.

Jen: Last minute. What are you talking about Dawson that doesn’t need to be in until next week.

Dawson: No Jen it’s definitely for tomorrow. Don’t tell me you haven’t…..

(Dawson didn’t need to say another word. Jen’s face was telling him that she hadn’t done it.)

Jen: Oh my god! What am I gonna do? (Jen started pacing up and down) I’ll never get it finished in time.

(Dawson calmly walked up to Jen and held her.)

Dawson: calm down Jen, You can finish in time. I’ll help you. Go and get your books so we can get started.

(Jen stood still for a minute. She was still getting over the shock. The English essay was a major part of her final grade.)

Jen: OK… Thanx Dawson

(Jen slowly turned around and ran off.)

Scene: The Ice house

(The Icehouse was packed and Joey was rushed of her feet.)

Joey: Can I take your order please?

Pacey: I’d like a beautiful brunette tutor and an A in next week’s biologytest.

Joey: Pacey! Well you got the beautiful tutor and how bouts we work on that A. Oh a test that means more studying for Pacey which means more time with him for me.Pacey: When does your shift finish?

Joey: Huh.. Oh in about 20 minutes.

Pacey: OK I’ll wait and take you home.Joey: It’s OK Pacey you don’t have to

Pacey: I want to.

(Pacey sounded very stubborn and Joey knew there was no way he was leaving without her.)

Joey: OK thanx. We can try and get some study in while your there.

Pacey: Sure God is studying all she thinks about Pacey smiled. Anything to make you stay longer Pace even if it is biology.)

Dawson: Oh thank god it’s finished, we must have been working for like 3 hours.

Jen: Thanx for your help Dawson, I really appreciate it.

Dawson: It’s OK Jen (Dawson lay back on his bed.) I’m so tired.

Jen: Me too. (Jen moved closer to Dawson and he quickly got up and walked towards his desk. He still wasn’t sure about his feelings for Jen.)

Jen: Dawson. (Dawson turned around. Suddenly Jen gets up and walks over to Dawson. She looked straight into his eyes and then kissed him. The kiss only lasted a second as Dawson quickly pulled away.) I’m sorry Dawson.

(Jen quickly left leaving Dawson in a shock.)

Dawson: Where’s Joey when you need her?

Scene: Joey’s house

Joey: OK, Pacey you can tell me now. Pacey: I don’t know what your talking about, Jo.

Joey: Look, Pacey, you’ve been quiet the whole way home and I can tell you want to say something so just say it.

Pacey: It’s nothing really.

Joey: Look, I know it’s something, you're acting just the way I did when I wanted to tell Dawson I loved him. (Joey blurted the whole sentence out, without even realising what she had said. Pacey didn’t say anything. He didn’t know what to say. Maybe because he wanted to tell Joey the exact same thing. Joey realised and decided to cover her tracks with a flashy come back.)

Joey: Not that you want to tell me that of course. I mean you and me, that’s a joke, right Pace?

Pacey: Yeah (Pacey was looking down and he tried to half smile but it was pretty hard seeing as Joey had just crushed any chance of him telling her what she really thought) Stupid me, why do have to go and say something like that. I mean even If he does like you he’s not likely to tell you now. Now your just gonna have to tell him how you feel

Pacey: I’ll see you around Jo. (Pacey turned around and walked of)

Joey: Pacey wait. (Joey called after him but he was already gone.)

(Pacey and Joey both spend the night thinking about each other. Pacey comes up with a thousand reasons why not to tell Joey how he feels and one of them was what she had said to him tonight. Joey spent the whole night regretting what she had said and comes up with a thousand reasons to apologise.)
