Scene: School - Monday

(Dawson was standing by his locker looking around. He hadn’t seen Joey yesterday and she didn’t walk to school with him today either. Dawson knew she was probably with Pacey but he kept making other excuses. Just then Joey walks in. Dawson smiles but when he realises who she’s with his smile fades. *They’re holding hands, I don’t believe it. It’s so weird.* Joey and Pacey spot Dawson and start walking towards him.)

Pacey: This isn’t going to be easy.

Joey: I know, look at his face. (Joey squeezed Pacey’s hand tighter and Pacey smiled.)

Pacey: Here goes (They reach Dawson who is looking at their hands, they hadn’t let go of each other since they walked in.) Hey Dawson.

Dawson: Hey guys (Dawson let out a fake smile, trying to look normal)

Joey: What have you been up to?

Dawson: (*I think the question is what have YOU been up to? *) Oh um.. nothing. What about you guys. (He stared at them both, a cold hard stare. Pacey and Joey let go of each others hands)

Joey: Nothing, we just went out yesterday. (Joey was going out with Pacey and she wasn’t afraid to tell people about it. Pacey was pleased she didn’t keep it a secret from Dawson and smiled.)

Dawson: Don’t you think it’s a bit strange that you two are going out.. I mean you never exactly liked each other. (Dawson was speaking very coldly, Joey was about to answer but Jen appeared.)

Jen: Hey guys

Pacey and Joey: Hey Jen

Jen: Oh, I heard you two are going out, I think you two make the cutest couple don’t you think Dawson? (Dawson stared at Jen a bit angry)

Joey: Thanx Jen (Joey knew that Jen was only saying it because she wanted Dawson back but she didn’t care. Joey and Jen had been starting to get on a bit better since Joey wasn’t in love with Dawson anymore)

BELL

Jen: Well we have to go get to class, don’t we Dawson? (Jen practically had to drag Dawson away.) Bye

Joey: Dawson must think it’s strange his two best friends dating.

Pacey: Yeah (Pacey said quietly, he knew there was more to it than that but he didn’t bother saying anything.)

Joey: OK I better go too, (Joey kissed Pacey on the cheek and walked off)

(Pacey and Joey had decided to take things slow, they did kiss but not all the time like some couples. They were always hugging and holding hands. Joey liked it that way, she liked it when Pacey just held her.)

Scene: Lunch - Cafeteria

(Pacey and Joey were sitting at their usual table waiting for Dawson and Jen, They were holding hands and kissing now and again. By now the whole school knew about them Thanks to the school mouth Abby Morgan, but it wasn’t a problem.)

(Dawson enters the cafeteria to see Pacey and Joey. *Oh please,* he took a deep breath and walked up to them. They didn’t even notice him)

Dawson: Uhum (Dawson cleared his throat trying to get their attention.)

Pacey: Oh hey Dawson

Dawson: Hey

(They sat at lunch and Jen joined them, Dawson couldn’t keep his eyes of Joey, she didn’t notice but Pacey did. *I can’t believe she’s acting like that, she’s all over him* Actually they hadn’t kissed since Dawson had come and sat down but had been staring at each other)

Pacey: OK I have to go now, I’ve got this English project I need to work on. You coming Jen? (Pacey and Jen were in the same English class and were working on their projects together)

Jen: Yeah, Bye Joey, Bye Dawson

Joey: Bye, (Joey stood up and kissed Pacey, this time it was a proper kiss. Dawson’s eyes nearly popped out he was so angry. At least Pacey was going now)

Dawson: Bye Pacey (Pacey broke the kiss and walked off with Jen.)

Joey: What’s wrong Dawson, you haven’t said a word all day.

Dawson: It’s nothing. Do you want to come over and watch a film tonight?

Joey: Sorry, I’m going out with. (Dawson interrupted)

Dawson: Pacey (Dawson was starting to get angry. *They’ve only been going out one day and he’s already coming between us*)

Joey: I’m really sorry Dawson, maybe tomorrow

Dawson: OK tomorrow then, I’ll get E.T ready

Joey: OK (Joey smiled and walked off)

Scene: Dawson’s Bedroom

(Dawson was watching T.V as Jen enters)

Jen: Hey Dawson

Dawson: Oh hey Jen (Dawson sounded very upset and angry)

Jen: Thanks for sounding so pleased to see me

Dawson: I’m sorry Jen, I’m just a bit preoccupied.

Jen: You’re thinking about Joey aren’t you.

Dawson: No! What has Joey got to do with anything. (Dawson became very defensive)

Jen: OK Whatever you say, I need to talk to you about us.

Dawson: Not now Jen, I’ve got enough problems without you adding to them.

Jen: Well I need to know where I stand Dawson. On Friday you were fine, we had a good time and you even kissed me. But now ever since Joey’s been going out with Pacey you don’t even want to look at me.

Dawson: I just need some time

Jen: I know (Jen sounded very upset but she knew he was right. She was just hoping that he would come back to her.) But I won’t be waiting forever. When you’ve sorted things out give me a call. Until then I’m here for you Dawson. As a friend, if you need to talk about anything…… even Joey.

Dawson: Thanks Jen, right now I just need to be alone.

Jen: OK I’ll see you tomorrow

(The week went really fast. Joey and Pacey spent more and more time together and Dawson got more and more jealous. Jen was starting to get angry just waiting for Dawson to get over Joey. Pacey had noticed Dawson’s behaviour a lot and was sometimes scared that Joey would leave him for Dawson but he was reassured by Joey. Lately she didn’t take much notice of Dawson even as a friend, she was too wrapped up in Pacey. The only time she properly spent time with Dawson that week was when she watched E.T on Tuesday but even then she invited Pacey along without asking Dawson.)

Scene: Dawson’s Bedroom - Friday

Joey: Hey Dawson. (Dawson looks up surprised to see Joey entering through the window.)

Dawson: Hi Joey! (He was glad that Joey had come to visit him, by now even Joey knew that Dawson was Jealous. He always avoided her when Pacey was with her and hardly ever talked to her properly.) What brings you here?

Joey: Nothing, I was just bored (Dawson looks at her surprised she isn’t with Pacey) and before you ask Pacey has an extra shift at the video store.

Dawson: Oh (Dawson was hurt that Joey came over just because her "boyfriend" was working. He swallowed his pride and asked about Pacey. Although he didn’t like bringing him up, he really wanted to know if things were getting serious) So how’s Pacey anyway?

Joey: He’s fine, why don’t you talk to him yourself? I’ve noticed you’ve been ignoring him.

Dawson: No I haven’t (Dawson knew she was right but still denied it. Every time he spoke to Pacey the subject of Joey would always enter the conversation somehow)

Joey: Whatever, so we gone watch a movie or what?

Dawson: Joey

Joey: Yeah (Joey was surprised Dawson had a serious tone in his voice)

Dawson: Can I talk to you. I mean really talk, like we used to?

Joey: Sure

(Joey sat down and they started to talk. Joey talked about her relationship with Pacey and Dawson told her that he broke up with Jen. They talked for a few hours. Dawson realised that Joey actually liked Pacey a lot and started to feel guilty about wanting to break them up, but he also realised she never once mentioned the word "love.")

Joey: Thanks Dawson, I really missed talking to you. (Joey stood up)

Dawson: Are you going now? (Dawson said sounding disappointed.)

Joey: No, I’m staying, if that’s OK I mean?

Dawson: Sure, (Dawson was so happy, this was the first time Joey was staying over since Pacey and Joey started dating. Things were starting to go back to normal, all except Dawson’s growing urge to break the happy couple up.)
