Scene: Ice house - closing time

(Joey was clearing the last few tables, she had to close up and go and get changed so she could meet Dawson at the Rialto. She was happy, thinking about Pacey. She was humming ‘I don’t wanna miss a thang" by Aerosmith to herself. From behind Jen enter.)

Jen: Hey Jo, I guess no one could bring your mood down

Joey: Yeah, I’ve been so happy these days it’s almost scary.

Jen: Well I’m glad someone’s happy.

Joey: I’m sure you’ll work things out. Dawson will realise that he really does love you. It just takes him longer to realise these things.

Jen: Yeah, so you going to meet Dawson?

Joey: Yeah, I just gotta finish clearing up. Hey why don’t you come?

Jen: No, I don’t think so, that would be too weird.

Joey: Oh come on, I would’ve asked Pacey but he’s got to work. (Joey looked disappointed. Then she went into thoughts about Pacey.)

Jen: Joey, Joey

Joey: Huh..

Jen: God every time you mention that boy you go into this daydreaming mood.

Joey: What can I say he’s great.

Jen: Oh I better get going. (She started to head towards the door, but then turns around.) I’m so stupid, the reason I came here so late was to pick up my keys. I forgot them here before.

Joey: Oh let me go check (Joey heads behind the counter.) Are these yours? (Joey held up a bunch of keys.)

Jen: Yeah thanks (Jen takes them)

(Joey and Jen get talking and Jen stays at the Icehouse while Joey clears up.)

Scene: Dawson’s Bedroom

(Dawson is getting ready to go to the Rialto.)

(*Today’s my chance with Joey, I’m sure once she finds out I love her she’ll leave Pacey. I mean she’s been in love with me for so long. Pacey only just came into the picture. God I could kill him.*)

(*If I assess the situation I’m sure I’ll come to the same conclusion I thought. Joey loves me.*)

Gale: Dawson are you staying for dinner? (Gail called from downstairs)

Dawson: No mum, I’m going out with Joey (Dawson screamed)

(*I’m going out with Joey, it has a nice sound to it.*)

Gale: OK have fun

Dawson: I will

(*OK there are four people involved, right now, I’m miserable because Joey’s going out with Pacey, Jen miserable coz I want to go out with Joey, Joey and Pacey are miser…. Happy coz their going out with each other.. Well me and Jen are miserable and I’m sure Joey would be happier with me.*)

Scene: Icehouse

Joey: Finally I’ve finished now I’ve got about half an hour to get ready.

Jen: Yeah I better get going too

(Pacey enters from behind Joey, Jen spots him but Pacey signals not to tell Joey.)

Jen: So do you wish Pacey was here?

Joey: What… yeah I guess I do… I miss him when he’s not here

Pacey: (Pacey put his hand in front of Joey and handed her a rose.) Your wish is my command

Joey: Pacey! What are you doing here?

Pacey: Nice to see you too

Joey: No, its just aren’t you supposed to we working? (Joey took one step back and looked at Pacey.) Oh my god you look.. you look great. (She came closer and kissed him. He was wearing a smart shirt and trousers. He was dressed very posh.)

Pacey: Thanks, we’re going out

Joey: Where?

Pacey: It’s a surprise, and before you say ‘what am going to wear?’ This is what your going to wear. (Pacey pulled out a short blue velvet dress. It was gorgeous.)

Joey: Oh my god it’s gorgeous

Pacey: I know you don’t wear dresses but you’ll look gorgeous in this

Joey: How can you afford all of this? (Pacey put his finger on her lips)

Pacey: You don’t need to worry about it. You ready to leave, your carriage is waiting. (Pacey pointed towards the truck)

Joey: OK one sec

(Joey takes Jen into a corner)

Jen: Joey you are so lucky, sometimes I think I should’ve gone for Pacey

Joey: Hey he’s taken

Jen: Yeah it’s a pity (Jen was joking)

Joey: Jen, I think your forgetting something I’m supposed to be meeting Dawson.

Jen: Oh yeah, what you gonna do?

Joey: Go with Pacey of course, I mean I don’t want to stand Dawson up or anything but my boyfriend has just surprised me with all of this.

Jen: Joey go with Pacey Joey: yeah, I mean Dawson will understand he’s a great friend

Jen: Yeah (* I wouldn’t be too sure about that*)

Pacey: Joey were gonna be late

Joey: One sec. Jen could you go? Please, just explain to Dawson

Jen: I’m not sure I’m the right person

Joey: Jen, your the only person, please (Joey gave Jen her puppy dog eyes..)

Jen: OK, you owe me though

Joey: Thanks Jen (Joey gave Jen a quick hug) He’ll be sitting 10th row from the back (Jen gave Joey a weird look) It’s tradition, just say I’m really sorry.

Jen: Don’t worry, just go have a great time (Joey heads towards Pacey) and Joey (Joey turns around)

Joey: Yeah

Jen: Take lots of pictures, I’ve got to see what you look like in that dress (Joey smiles)

Joey: Sure
