Jen glanced over at Joey's face and shook her head sadly. "You just don't get it do you?"

Joey looked around for the door, making sure she could bolt and/or take the smaller girl. "Get what Jen?" Joey asked carefully; warily.

"This whole killing thing! It's gone to far!"

"Jen, what are you talking about?"

"Pacey's mom died Joey! That's what I'm talking about! Dawson's cousin was practically thrown into a meat grinder!"

Joey's lip trembled. "Jen, what are you-"

"I had a dream last night." Jen interrupted, back to her soft, dreamy voice. Joey's jaw closed in reflexive horror. "We all died. And then, and then suddenly we came back to life and it was over! The killer was caught." Jen offered Joey a small smile. "It'll all be over soon Jo."

Joey sighed in relief. Jen had had a dream about the whole ordeal being over! She hadn't actually killed anyone! Thank goodness!

Joey couldn't help taking another glance at the blond girl, who was staring down at her comforter again in her dreamy state. Maybe Jen wasn't playing with a full deck after all.

Joey lay awake staring up at the ceiling later that night. Pacey was sleeping fitfully beside her, tossing, turning, and moaning. Joey didn't blame him. Bessie had told her a while ago that Joey would scream in her sleep for a while after her mother had died. And Pacey's mom was the only one in his family who had ever believed in him, so of course he would be upset.

Joey closed her eyes, almost feeling the room shake. Her eyes flew open quickly as she looked around, feeling like a dog does before an earthquake strikes. Something horrible was going to happen, Joey knew it in her heart.

"Pacey wake up now!" Joey said with no softness in her voice. She looked around frantically and reached for the light, clicking it on.

Pacey's eyes came open without any signs of grogginess. He sat up and looked around the dimly lit room. "What's wrong Jo?"

Joey was staring wildly around the room now. "He's coming Pacey!" She exclaimed hysterically. "He's coming and he's going to kill us all!" She was changing clothes right before his eyes. "We have to get out of here! We have to get out of here before he can kill us!"

"Jo!" Pacey jumped up and grabbed her by the wrists. She fought him. "Jo stop!" He shook her but she still jerked in fear. "Joey no one is coming in here! This building is guarded, pardon the cliche, better than Fort Knox."

"Pacey you don't understand!" Joey was almost screaming at him, tears flowing down her cheeks. "He's coming! He's coming!"

"Joey no!" Pacey shook her by the wrists again and tried to look into her tear stained face. "Joey it's not happening!"

The couple looked up at the pounding on the door. It sounded like someone was trying to break it open.

Without a consious thought, Pacey threw Joey behind him as the door flew open to reveal a devil mask and a long black cloak.

"Troy?" Pacey asked in disbelief, without any sign of fear in his voice or his face. "Troy what are you doing here?"

The devil's mask lay discarded on the floor, but Troy weilded a dangerous looking knife which was already covered in blood.

"Don't bother trying to run." Troy's gravely voice told them. His eyes were glinting, and he had a slight sneer to his lips. "You can't get away."

"Troy, what the hell is this all about?" Pacey demanded angrily. He reached behind him for a shaking Joey and held her in his arms. "This isn't even hardly funny man."

"Pacey this isn't a joke." Joey whispered, terrified. She was staring at Troy with genuine horror.

Pacey looked down surprisedly at his girlfriend and then up at the person. "Of course it is Jo! Troy is my cousin! He's gone to school with us for 3 years."

"And you never gave me the time of day." Troy glared at Joey furiously. "You never gave any of us the time of day."

"Troy!" Pacey snapped, putting his hand over Joey's ear as he drew her against his chest. "You're not funny man. How did you get here?"

Troy looked furious. "What part of I'm going to kill you, your girlfriend, your best friend, and your best friends' girlfriend didn't you understand?!" He demanded. "I killed the guards and now I'm going to kill you."

"Troy! We killed the guards!" Two more devil's in the same costume came into the room. Each held Dawson and Jen. Dawson had a gash across his forehead and Jen's stomach was gushing blood. She could barely hold herself up, and was crying hysterically. Dawson just looked dazed.

"Technicalities." Troy rolled his eyes. "Let's get 'em out of here."

"Troy what the hell do you think you're doing?!" Pacey shouted. "This has gone too far!"

Troy's face became dark and dangerous. "You were a loser and she still had time for you. But never for me. Never for the boy who admired her from afar. She didn't even know I existed!"

Pacey held tightly to his girlfriend and love. "You hurt her and I'll kill you man." Pacey threatened.

Troy burst out laughing. "I could care less!" He roared. "I'm the one holding the knife! All you've got is your pathetic little girlfriend!"

"If she's so pathetic then how come you're spending all your time checking up on her and me?" Pacey demanded.

"Because I didn't think she was so pathetic back then." Troy shrugged. "But I do now and now I'm going to kill her." He waved the knife around. "Bye bye sweetie..."
