Shake and Nod: The Sequel
Part Two
by: Moon Bunny

...continued...

"Help me!" Joey shouted.

Pacey came running out of the little cabin/shack. He burst out laughing when he saw Joey struggling with a huge mattress.

"Hold on, baby." Pacey shook his head in amusement, and stepped down the 3 wooden stairs with a jump in his step. He called out for Dawson, and the two men carried the mattress into their new home.

"Here." Joey smiled at Jen, and took the glass of lemonade that she offered. "I'm glad we moved back here." Jen said as the two girls sipped their lemonade. "It feels like home."

"More than my apartment ever did." Pacey agreed, him and Dawson approaching the two girls who were admiring the cabin. Pacey stood next to Joey while Dawson stood between Pacey and Jen. They all grinned at each other.

The shack had been transformed into a beautiful cabin. The wood was refinished, and the front porch was something to be proud of. They'd fixed up the rotting wood, and put on 2 swinging seats, and several regular comfy porch chairs. There were 5 small glass tables, their stands matching the wood.

The railing that boarded the porch was at Joey's waist level, and two long beams held up the overhang for the porch on either side of the steps. The porch was huge in itself, a nice size. It looked out over a secluded area of the water and beach. Right then, the sun shone brightly on the house, but the overhang covered the sunlight from the front of the house.

The yard, they'd fixed up proudly. It was now covered in grass up until the very point when the woods met it. There was a flower bed under one of the windows, which was Jen's passion. It was nice, they had to admit. In the back yard they'd put up a volleyball net. There was a patio through the back doors of the cabin, tiled with a redish brown brick. They'd set up a barbeque, along with benches, small tables, lawn chairs, and a big glass table in the center with an umbrella through the middle, and matching chairs around it.

Inside, they'd left it the same, just washed off the dirt. They couldn't bare to change the inside when they'd had so many great memories there.

All this in only one week. Not bad.

"Come on." Pacey put his arm around his girlfriend and led her inside. Jen and Dawson chose to remain outside, settling in on the porch.

"How are you?" Pacey asked softly, sitting on their bed.

"I've been better." Joey admitted, moving their things around and unpacking. "I'm glad that we're back together though."

"Me too Jo." Pacey smiled slightly at her, and she walked over to in front of him. He took her hands in his. "But Jo, I was talking about the rape."

"Why?" Joey demanded, yanking her hands from his. Her eyes began darting across his face. "Why were you talking about it?"

"Because it happened a year ago tomorrow."

"Back off Pacey!" Joey turned abruptly from him, and began stuffing the drawers with her clothes.

Behind her Pacey stood up, and she paused, expecting him to put his hands on her shoulders. But he didn't. He walked to the doorway to the room and stood there, just feet away from her.

"When you need to talk Jo, you know how to reach me." He turned and was gone.

Joey's head snapped to the side, panic seizing her. Where was he going?

Pacey drove endlessly for hours, knowning that what he did was probably horrible for her. He shouldn't have left. That was just one more person who dissappointed her. But he couldn't help it. He felt lost, alone, and most of all, angry. Angry that someone had known she was raped and didn't help. Angry that this nightmare was starting all over again. Angry that his mother was dead. Angry about everything. Angry at Joey.

But he wasn't angry that she brought her life to him.

He was angry that she was now trying to hide it from him.

Pacey loved Joey, he knew he did, but sometimes when she was afraid of getting hurt, she pushed him away, hurting both of them. It was a reflex that he'd managed to curb every time he felt it, but she hadn't learned that control yet. He hoped she would soon.

Pacey's beeper went off with a 911, so he pulled over to a gas station he was driving in front of, and dialed the number.

"Pacey?" A breathless voice asked.

"Jen?" Pacey was beginning to get worried. "What's wrong?"

"Joey's gone."

"What?!"

"She just, vanished. Oh god Pacey! We've looked everywhere for her! What if she was grabbed?!"

"I'll be right there. Look around town again. Split it up with Dawson."

"Hurry, Pacey!"

"I will." Pacey slammed down the receiver and ran to his car, his pulse racing and his heart pounding in his ears.

"Let go!" Joey screamed, trying to shake herself from the person's grip. Her eyes were covered with a cloth, and her hands were bound together behind her back with something that felt like rope. It hurt.

"Joey Joey Joey..." A familair voice crooned. "Did you think I would let you go?"

Joey froze in horror. "Jack?" She whispered. "Is that you?"

"And Andie cup cake." The next second the blind fold was gone. "And guess what? We're gonna kill you!"

Joey swallowed hard. "Why?" She demanded, doing her best not to cry. "What did I do?"

"What do you think?!" Andie snarled. "You snapped your fingers and my boyfriend went running! What do you think that did to me?"

"Calm down love." Jack gently kissed Andie's lips, exploring her mouth with his. Joey's eyes widened in horror.

"She's your sister!" Joey managed to bite out, feeling ready to throw up.

They pulled apart, Andie rolling her eyes. "Please. You're so naive. Do you honestly think that Jack and I are twins?"

"But, you-you-"

"I thought you said she was smart." Andie accused Jack.

"She was." Jack sneered at Joey. "She's just playing dumb."

"Why do you want to kill me?" Joey whispered. "Why did you do this?"

"I should think it was easy for you to comprehend Jo." Andie teased. Her voice lowered to a growl. "You killed my daddy."

"Where is she?!" Pacey screamed at Dawson. "Why didn't you keep an eye on her?"

It was starting to rain, and ran hard. Both boys were going to get drenched. Jen watched with horror from the porch, then ran to the yard to meet them.

"Pacey it's not Dawson's fault!" Jen yelled back at him. "We're just as worried about Joey as you are, but screaming at Dawson isn't going to find her! She was here one minute and the next she was gone."

"My baby, my baby, my baby." Pacey mumbled, a hand over his mouth as he scanned the area. He shook off the hand Dawson put on his arm, and took a step away. Then he looked up at the sky and screamed: "Joey!"

Joey's head lolled onto her collar bone. She was exhausted, and they wouldn't let her sleep. She'd been awake for more than 72 hours, and it was showing.

Jack and Andie had been tormenting her, throwing things at her and pouring freezing water on her to keep her awake. Andie had not explained further when she said Joey had killed her father, but she'd been even crueler after that.

Joey wished for death.

"Jack and Andie McPhee have dissappeared too." Doug told the three roommates. They looked startled.

"They've been kidnapped too?" Jen asked in horror.

Doug hesitated before going on. "Not exactly..." He hedged. "We-we think they're the ones who took Joey."

Dawson, Jen, and Pacey stared at him blankly.

"Andie McPhee is not Andie McPhee. She's Andie Lasic. Daughter of-"

"Mr. Tom Lasic." Pacey finished, his eyes furious. "Our old, dead, pervert rapist science teacher."

Doug nodded at his brother's accusation. "That's right." He agreed. "And Jack Daniels is Andie's boyfriend."

"Jack Daniels? Like the drink?" Jen's eyebrows knitted together.

Doug nodded again. "We're currently searching for them, because we have a feeling that—"

"That Andie captured Joey because she blames her father's death on Jo." Pacey again finished his brothers sentence. Doug wondered who was the cop briefly.

"Right." Doug closed his eyes and opened them again. They locked with Pacey's. "We're going to find Joey, and she's going to be fine."

"I hope you're right Dougy." Pacey put his head in his hands. "I hope you're so right."

Joey closed her eyes only to be splashed with more freezing water. It had now been 96 hours since she'd had any sleep, and she was going to pass out soon. She had no energy to do anything, especially scream or even talk.

Jack waited until his girlfriend had gone to the bathroom to gently move the chair Joey was tied to in front of the fire. Then he put a warm blanket over her and began rubbing her shoulders and arms through the blanket.

"This'll be over soon Jo." Jack whispered to her. "I promise."

Andie came out of the bathroom and glared at Jack. "What are you doing?" She demanded.

"She's getting sick An." Jack stood up and went over to her side. He wrapped his arms lovingly around her waist. "And we can't have her sick now can we?" He leaned down and began kissing her neck.

Andie was delighted. "I guess not..." She agreed, then began kissing him.

Joey prayed they wouldn't have sex while she was there.

Pacey was a nervous wreck. "I want Joey." He mumbled in answer to Jen's question.

"We'll find her Pace. I swear we-" Jen broke off as the phone rang. Dawson, who carried it around in his hand, quickly turned it on.

"Hello?" Dawson asked quickly. He waited. "Doug?" Jen clasped Pacey's hand. "You found them? Thank god!" He listened some more. "We'll be right there!" He turned off the phone and turned joyous eyes on his friends. "They've found her. She's in the hospital right now."

"Joey!"

Joey opened her tired eyes to be confronted with strong arms being wrapped around her small form on the hospital bed.

Joey smiled slightly. "Hi Dawson." She said softly in a low voice. It was as loud as she could manage.

"We're so glad you're okay!" Jen took her hand. "You gave us quite a scare."

Joey smiled weakly.

Pacey hung out in the doorway, waiting for her to finish with the two that were there already.

Joey's eyes trailed to the door, and her face lit up. She felt more awake than she had in days. Dawson and Jen backed away, smiling at each other as Pacey entered the room.

And then they were in each other's arms, both crying.

"She was a sick bitca." Pacey shook his head in anger. "I hope she gets sentenced to life."

"Pacey..." Joey trailed off, instead just leaning against him on the porch swing. Twlight cast beautiful colors across the sky, making it next to impossible to feel anything but peace and love. Joey could actually feel it welling up inside of her. It was a marvelous thing, this love and joy for life.

"I love you." Joey smiled then, and she laughed, looking up at her boyfriend.

Pacey, obviously affected by the beauty before him as well, smiled back at her and kissed her sweetly. "I love you too."

On to Part Three

Is that the end? Are you kidding! No way! We've just begun people! I'm looking to make this... Oh, around 8 parts. Maybe more. Maybe less. To all Andie and Jack fans, I'm sorry about this. And I honestly have no idea what they're like. Like I said previously, I have no idea what they're like. I don't watch the show anymore.
