Part Three

Joey woke up, keeping her eyes closed. The song on the radio was a love song, which just put into words the way she was feeling about Pacey. Joey woke up, keeping her eyes closed. The song on the radio was a love song, which just put into words the way she was feeling about Pacey.
Next to Joey, Pacey was slowly waking up himself. He, unlike his girlfriend, opened his eyes to discover that he wasn't even holding her.
"I'm being jipped." He announced, reaching out and snatching Joey into his arms. Her eyes flew open, and she giggled. "That's better." He snuggled against her and closed his eyes to go back to sleep.
"Mmm..." Joey agreed, her smile deepening as she felt safe and secure. "I love you."
"I love you Jo." Pacey pulled back and studied her for an instant. "You know that right?"
"I know." Joey kissed him, planning on pulling back after a second. Pacey, on the other hand, had other ideas. He deepened the kiss, holding tightly to her in their bed.
"Pacey we have school..." Joey tried to protest, but he tickled her and she ended up giggling. She pulled the covers up over their heads and continued to kiss her boyfriend.
Pacey was showering, and Joey was laying in their bed by herself while she thought about what had happened to her. Jack, poor, insane Jack, had called the police on himself and Andie when he finally listened to Joey. The police had come quickly; Andie screaming the entire time wondering how they'd found them. The police, on Jack's pleading, still wouldn't tell her, except to say that she was sloppy. That had driven her even more insane with anger. Joey had a feeling that she would be tearing herself apart for a long time.
Joey still felt sorry for Jack, but Pacey didn't. Pacey longed to tear both of their head's off, which was exactly why he wasn't going to visit Jack in prison like Joey.
Pacey came in, a towel around his waist, which stopped Joey's train of thought—completely. He was so georgeous, that for a minute all she could do was stare.
Pacey was grinning wildly, knowing exactly what thoughts were going through his girlfriend's head. He walked slowly to the bed, leaning down and kissing her with more passion than she could remember him having.
"I love you." Joey sighed, delighted.
"I love you more."
"Do not."
"Do too."
"Do not!"
"Do too!"
"Do not!"
"Do too!"
"Do-" Joey was cut off by Pacey's mouth on hers, and she smiled even as they kissed.
"You guys are late." Jen noted, looking up from cooking at the stove.
"Sorry." Pacey and Joey were both breathless as they dashed into the kitchen and sat down. "What's for the 'fest?"
"Pancakes." Jen answered. "As soon as Dawson hurries up with the juice."
"Hey!" Dawson protested. "This squeezing of oranges isn't as simple as it looks!"
The three stiffled laughs. "Dawson, what's to be so hard about it? You push an orange down on the thing in the center and twist." Joey stood up and took the orange from him. She pushed it down and twisted, looking up with a smug expression.
Dawson sneered playfully back down at her and finished squeezing the oranges.
Joey returned to Pacey's side, and they finished breakfast without incident.
Joey's heart stopped beating when she saw she had mail from someone with no name. She opened it with trembling fingers.
Josephine,
Why do you avoid me so? You're
killing me Jo, you really are.
I mean, I love you so much
and here you just...
Just... Well... Ignore me.
I guess you wouldn't ignore
me if you knew who I was. I'm
the one who really loves you.
Not that loser Pacey. Me! Me
damn it! And I swear to
god Jo, you're going to be
punished for every day you're not
with me. Starting yesterday.
Sweet dreams lover,
Your Science Teacher
Joey put her shaking hand over her mouth and began crying silent tears. She jumped up from her seat at the computer and again ran out of the room. The students and teacher exchanged looks and chose to ignore her. They went back calmly to their work.
Joey raced down the hallway, and stopped outside of a classroom she was familiar with. She opened the door.
No one was inside.
Joey frantically looked for Pacey, then turned around to see just a deserted hallway. "Pacey." Joey whispered. "Please. I need you. I'm scared."
"Stop it!" Joey twisted and turned in her bed, her arms flailing out. "Let me go!"
Pacey woke up when Joey smacked him across the cheek. He quickly saw what was going on and grabbed Joey's arms and began yelling at her.
"Joey! Joey stop it! Joey! It's just a dream Joey! Wake up!"
She let out a blood curdling scream and sat up straight, her eyes wide open and her breathing ragged. She was soaked in sweat, and terrified.
"Joey, what happened today?" Pacey eyed her. "You've been upset all day and you've refused to tell me why." He took a deep breath. "And now is the time to do so."
Joey nibbled on her lower lip. Then she nodded and took a deep breath.
Pacey didn't say anything for a while, he just simply held Joey, carefully stroking her hair and smoothing it down. Finally he spoke. "I love you." He whispered. "I always have." He looked down at her and met her eyes. "And we will get past this." His thumb gently ran over the only scar Joey had from their previous... attack. It was right of the rise of her right breast, and was only about an inch and a half long. Joey remembered when the doctor told her that the scar wouldn't go away. It had been horrible to think that this incident would always be with her. "Just like we got past this." He carefully kissed the scar, as if it was still a wound. "I swear."
Joey's face teared up, and she buried herself in Pacey, wishing everything but him would go away.
"What happened?!" Pacey jumped up and ran to his girlfriend's side. She was holding something tightly in her fist.
"This happened." Joey opened her hand and shoved it into Pacey's face. He held her while he opened the piece of paper.
Joey,
Bet you never expected to hear
from me again!
Well you little
bitca, I'm back, and I'm mad.
How dare you stop me? How
dare you?! Well... You'll
pay in time my love. You
think that you finished me
when you pushed me off the bridge?
Well you're wrong. You only
made me furious.
Love always,
Your science teacher
Pacey read and reread the note. "Joey, this doesn't make any sense." He looked down at her. "This says that you killed Mr. Lasic."
Joey looked up at him. "Maybe I did." She whispered.
