"Go on Trent." The suggestive, teasing tone of Andie's voice did not go unnoticed. Joey stared in surprise and horror as Andie's lighter vacillated.
"Andie!" Trent was frightened. Truly frightened. "What're you doin' here honey?"
Andie paused for a second before answering, and stepped into the ring of gasoline. "Oh... You know Trent. Hanging out, playing with fire..." Her face hardened, as did her voice. "Listening to you say how you killed my father and why."
"Andie, I was-" Trent tried to explain.
Andie interrupted him with a giggle, then dropped the lighter at Trent's feet. He screamed and went flying around, even hitting Joey, who screamed in pain and panic as the front of her shirt caught fire.
Andie giggled as the fire snaked around where the gasoline had been, and she closed her eyes in pure pleasure. "I'll be with you soon daddy." She whispered to the sky, then stepped into the path of the fire, on some gasoline. Andie moaned and shivered as the fire crawled up her leg, and soon she was engulfed in flames and screaming.
Joey was scared. Her stomach was burning, and she was blowing on it, trying desperatly to put the flames out when her hands were unnaccessable.
"How about some help?" Someone with a soft and gentle voice asked Joey. The next instant Joey couldn't breathe. This person was trying to suffocate her.
But no, they weren't. They were trying to put out the fire on her.
"Come on sweetie." The person mumbled. He turned around and grabbed an ax at his feet, then swung it at Joey's wrists, cutting the rope.
He picked her up, throwing her over one shoulder, and ran out of the building. Or tried to. Trent grabbed her foot, and the man who was holding Joey turned around, swinging the ax as he went. Trent's hand was cut off, and the killer screamed with pain. The hand around Joey's foot fell off, limp.
The man ran out of the building, and threw Joey into his car, into the back seat. And then he sped off.
"Joey?" Pacey stared at the girl in the strange man's arms as if he didn't recognize her. Joey blinked, trying to focus.
"Pacey?"
"Joey, oh my god!" Pacey grabbed her and swung her around in a hug, crying. Both of them were crying. Joey ignored the red hot agony that was her stomach when he pressed against it.
"Pacey." Joey sobbed, clutching him like he wouldn't be there in a few seconds. As her life had been going for the past year, she didn't know if he would be.
"She's burned pretty bad." The man who'd brought Joey in was talking to someone.
Pacey looked up over Joey's shoulder, in confusion as the man talked to the doctor. He pulled away from Joey and looked down at her, noticing for the first time how cut up, bruised, and burned she was.
"Hey!" Pacey shouted at the doctor. "She needs medical attention!"
The doctor said something to the man, and hurried over to the hurt girl, who collappsed when he got there and would have fallen if not for Pacey picking her up quickly.
The doctor shouted at the nurses, who hurried over with a stretcher, which Pacey gently laid her down on. Joey's eyes were closed.
In that moment, Joey looked peaceful.
"So who was that guy anyway?" Dawson asked from the chair at the table. He and Jen were sitting at the table in the hospital room, holding hands.
Pacey—while against regulations—was laying on the bed next to Joey, and had his arm protectively around her. Joey was snuggled tightly against him, laying her head down on his shoulder.
"He was the son of the police chief, out lookin' for firewood. He knew all about Joey and what was going on, and when he saw the warehouse on fire, he went in running. He saved Jo's life." Pacey explained. His voice grew quieter on the last line.
Joey pressed back into him and gently clasped his hand.
"So they're all dead now, right? No enemies left?" Jen asked, almost afraid of the answer.
"Let's hope not." Joey sighed, biting her lip. "Let's hope this is really the end."
Thanks guys! Yes, that is the final end. The ride is over! Please exit the car quickly but carefully, and step out to your right. Thanks you, come again! = )
