KeADILan's Gobalakrishnan assaulted by Indian thugs from BN

Days after the obscene hand gestures from the Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob, another incident is set to provide more ammunitions for PAS and the Barisan Alternatif in their ongoing campaign trail in the Sanggang by-election.

In what is reminiscent of the previous Barisan Nasional campaigns where several opposition supporters were assaulted, keADILan's outspoken Gobalakrishnan has become the latest victim to BN's gangsterism.

Gobala was hit by a BN supporter at the Hokkien centre near Jalan Raja Zaibidin. Sanggang, this morning, where he was delivering a speech from a campaign vehicle equipped with loudspeakers.

The incident was sparked when the BN supporter tried to stop Gobala from continuing his speech.

He then punched Gobala but quick action by several men at the scene prevented a skirmish.

A source said a group of BN supporters believed to be members of MIC and its rival thugs PPP rushed to the scene when they came to know of Gobala's speech.

An Indian man then confronted Gobala and asked him why he was campaigning for PAS candidate, Hishamuddin Yahya. The man then hurled insults and accused Gobala of being a "traitor" to the Indian race.

In the disturbance which ensued, another Indian man rushed to hit Gobala.

Gobala nevertheless remained defiant and continued his speech, only to be threatened later by another group of BN supporters from a nearby BN campaign centre. When Gobala refused, they grabbed the microphone and challenged Gobala for a fight.

The situation however calmed down when the microphone was returned to PAS party workers at the scene.

Gobala, accompanied by PAS party workers, has lodged a police report at the Mentakab Police Station.

The BN supporters also lodged a report, although it was not immediately known why.
