From the Editor
Greetings to my Gwyddon Family.
After a year of challenges, I'd like to share our new incarnation of an old favorite - The New Gwyddon Nexus. We give the old girl a facelift and format, which I hope you all appreciate. We will focus on consistent features and information departments which your input and submissions will play a vital role.
This issue, which, while it still features too much of my work, is chock-full of great pieces from you. There is more left for future issues, but this back-stock won't last! Each issue will feature 2 lead articles and open areas in Druid, Vatis and Bard departments, as well as Letters to the Editor, Book Reviews and comic/art. We are also interested in developing a classified ad area. For submission instructions, see page 32.
At this time, we are not requiring a paid subscription to receive The New Gwyddon Nexus. We know many of you paid subscriptions for Nexus which were not fulfilled. Its editor had a technological meltdown, causing all the subscription funds to evaporate in a hopeless cause. This is part of the rationale behind a fresh break and new look. I received Nexus as an orphaned pauper with no resources whatsoever. As a good adoptive parent I will, however, do my best to care for and nurture it.
Whereas I will not accept responsibility for any past debts or encumbrances that might exist, I will voluntarily send issues of The New Gwyddon Nexus out to former Nexus subscribers to fulfil their request. An exception to this would be if I must cease publication altogether due to hardship. Also, any newly interested subscribers may also receive TNGN for this year free of charge if they request. Enjoy it. Get involved in it.
Donations of money as well as article submissions are always heartily welcome. This entire publication is a labor of love at this time, but my pockets are certainly not bottomless, as you know. If you want to send a traditional subscription, donation or a special contribution, see page __. And thank you!
Changes in TNGN include a change in the number of issues. Nexus had gone from 8 issues to 4. We will be increasing to 5 issues per year for TNGN, corresponding to the 5 season year of the Goddess. We're also looking into a website for TNGN so you can keep up on-line.
TNGN is your family newsletter. Without your input it will not exist. Please stay involved and write to your family through its pages. Whereas we have included an editorial from Nexus' last editor in our Letters to the Editor department this issue, we hope to print your words there in the future, as well as in other areas throughout the periodical.

This Yule marks the start of a new solar year in the Greater Lunar Year. The year 3898, or NGY 2 is the 10th year of the 19-year cycle. Ruled by Hertha, the Horned Cow, it is the year of the Golden Bull Reborn. It should be a time of ups and downs for us all. There should be ups on a personal development level and a real kick in the pants for intellectual self-importance. It should also be bad for anything electrical or magnetic, but not terminally so. In fact, with care, mental and energy development can be spectacular. It all depends on you. |
Expect more than our fair share of solar flares, dramatic lightning storms, technology news, noticeable events involving the earth's poles and magnetic field. And, of course, our planets accelerated tectonic activity will continue. Weather, El Niņo being just a single part of it, will become a spectacle around the world. Wet, wet, wet, as the magic of the Eye of Coventina's Well is released into the world. Births are very wet!
Traditional associations with this year are rest and development of the heart, two hearts co-joined with unconditional love. The joy of the love of life and simple childlike pleasures are foremost as all enjoy the gentle wash of the rains, the lazy rolling river, the sweet breezes, the visage of the full moon reflected in the mother's womb in perfect peace. Peace, or the quest for such will be of primary importance and there will be a preoccupation with childbirth and fertility, artistic beauty and music and song. Life will feed quietly and serenity on the milk flowing from the breast of the Universe. On the other hand, peace is also sometimes seen as the cessation of activity. In this very solar oriented year, expect periodic disruptions in activity involving intellectual or solar activity. In this very solar oriented year, expect periodic disruptions in activity involving intellectual or solar activity. Shifts and sun spots will wreak havoc on electronic devices (including computers, satellite, TV & radio broadcasts. Also, as the womb opens for birth, the Earth could have increased "opening" through oceanic/tectonic activity. Other deities prominent in this cycle are Coventina, Nantosvelta, Tarvos and Boann. This might be a good year to go out and get some exercise or read a good book.
