Tournament of the Minds Competition

I use this at weekend camps. We allocate people into groups of around 5 to 10. The variety of games mean that the load can be spread throughout each team. Points are awarded each round, and tallied at the end of the night. Time - around 1 1/2 to 2 hours

Rules -  Rule 1: The Judges are always right.
         -  Rule 2: When the Judges are wrong, refer to rule 1.

Round 1 Chocolate Eating Relay

This is a warm up game, as it does not involve the usage of the mind in any way. Each team has a family sized block of chocolate, a dice, and some silly pieces of clothing, such as a hat or old jacket. Each member has a knife and a fork. The game commences as each group passes the dice around until someone rolls a designated number i.e. 6. Once a member has rolled this, they must place on the strange items of clothing, and use their knife and fork only, to cut up the chocolate, (which is placed a meter or so from the group) one segment at a time. This is then eaten. They cannot cut the next piece until they have finished chewing their current piece. Meanwhile, the other member of the group continue rolling the dice while all this is going on, with the next person to score the designated number replacing the current cutter (regardless of how much they've got done up to this stage). First team to eat the whole block wins.

Variation
Jaffas and chopsticks. Jaffa must be picked up and placed in a bowl, then eaten. This cuts down on disease spreading problems, as no utensils go into the mouth.

Round 2  Death By . . .In a Minute

Each group is given a scenario, which involves strange ways of dying. 5 Members from each team must act out the scenario, with all 5 dying of the particular cause. (It is not necessarily a mime) This must be accomplished in exactly 60 seconds (they are not allowed to use watches or hints from other team mates to get the time). Point are given for the closest to 60 seconds, artistic ability and presentation.

Round 4 Space Jump

Groups get a minute to work out what they're going to do for this game.
5 Members stand in a line. The first member chooses an activity to act out. When the M.C. yell out 'space jump', the 2nd person performs a completely unrellated activity with which the first person joins in, but this activity must come out a physical action in the previous activity. That is, there is no discernable point where activity one stops, and activity 2 starts. Continues until all 5 people are doing an activity. Then on the yell of 'space jump' the 5 person drops out, and everyone resorts to the activity the 4 perviously did. This continues down to the last person.

Example;
Starts
1. Climbing a Ladder
2. Pushing a Stroller
3. Boxing
4. Eating a Pizza
5. Driving a Car

Round 5  Celebrity Heads
One person from each group selected and placed on a chair. A sheet with a name of a famous or known person is placed above the person. Participants are able to ask questions that must be answered with a yes or a no. The first person asks their group a question, and may continue to ask questions as long as the answer is 'yes'. A 'no' response passes the questioning to the next participant. Points awarded as people guess their celebrity.

Round 6  Death by Questioning
One person per each group for each scene. The group is then given a scene. The scene is one in which questions have to be asked (Some suggestions below). They must role play in that scene, but they must not ask any questions. When a player asks a question, they are out. They are also out if they fail to contribute to the conversation, or if the conversation becomes completely meaningless. Award Points as people drop out.

Possible Scenes
    1. In Parliament
    2. In a restaurant
    3. Buying a car
    4. Shopping

The end
Add up the points, or you may like to keep a running total as the night goes on. Award prizes as your budget allows.
