The Alligator Story

Once upon a time . . .
Linda lived on an island and had a boyfriend called Cuthbert who lived on the mainland. The only way to get to the mainland from the island was by boat across waters that were crawling with alligators

Linda desperately wanted to see her Cuthbert and so asked some of her friends to take her across to the mainland, knowing that every time they crossed the alligator infested waters, their livers were at risk.

Linda asked Toby if he would take her across, but Toby said he didn’t have time to be bothered with her problems

Linda then asked Richy but Richy wanted to charge her too much money which she couldn’t afford.

Linda than asked Sinbad if he would take her across. Sinbad said that he would if she was prepared to sleep with him. Linda agreed to this and after spending the night with Sinbad they set off for the mainland.

On reaching the mainland, Linda and Sinbad found Cuthbert and after a fond greeting, Linda told him that she had spent the night with Sinbad so that she could get across to see him. When he heard this, Cuthbert fought with Sinbad to fight for Linda’s honour and pushed him into the alligator waters and he was never seen again.

Linda was so mad with Cuthbert she stalked off with her head in the air and would have nothing more to do with him.

And no one lived happily ever after

To think about: Even the most innocent looking was at fault in some way by either being too busy to be bothered or by being greedy and asking too much. Are some sins worse than others? See 1 Corinthians 5:11 - being greedy is in the same category as being sexually immoral
