Would I lie to you?

Recently, a petition circulated demanding a total ban on the dangerous chemical 'dihydrogen monoxide'. The following reasons to have the product banned were given;

Horrified that such a chemical was readily available in homes and shops, 86% of people readily signed, while 12% were undecided. Only 2% of those approached were aware that the chemical was, in fact water.

Sadly, in life there are many people who set out to win your trust so that they can use you for their own ends. Some seek out support for their personal agendas. Others will say anything to get your vote. Advertisers want the contents of your wallets. Internet hoaxes are rife. The messages that these people deliver are well planned, they are clever, they may even sound totally believable.

In a world where you are a target for clever, carefully planned messages, your need to do all you can to protect yourself. Know the facts. Seek out the origins of the message. Do all you need to make up your own mind.

However, the trap we can fall into is that of losing all faith in the human race. The Bible urges us to tread that fine line between trusting others and being a gullible target. Take time to ask God for the wisdom to know the difference between right and wrong; for the ability the to question when we need to question, and to trust when we need to trust. As Jesus warned his disciples when he sent them out;
