Sydnie

BY Julie Martin Smith

Sydnie was my rainbow.
My bright spot at the end of a long day.
She had a way about her
Her smile, or something she would say.

Sydnie was a special rainbow.
Everyone who met her fell in love
Sugar, spice, wit, affection,
This was what Sydnie was made of.

She loved people
Sometimes it was a surprise
When she’d talk to strangers at the store
And announce a little secret with a gleam in her eyes.

She loved her big brother
You could see the adoration in her eyes
She always had a hug for him
And loved him big as the skies.

Oh how she loved her Daddy.
She knew how to get what she wanted,
When her Daddy was around.
And that was a fact that she proudly flaunted.

Sydnie loved to go shopping with me.
It was something I didn't have to teach.
Her little eyes would sparkle and glow
At all the candy that was just beyond her reach.

She had a sweet tooth like I’ve never seen.
And had eaten more sweets than any 4 year old.
She’d pass up spaghetti any day
To eat a Tootsie Roll.

I find comfort that my little girl
Is with her loving “Paw”
Getting him up to date
On everything that she saw.

I still cannot believe she’s gone
My energetic, beautiful Sydnie.
I miss her more than I can say
And want her here with me.

I’ll always love my Baby.
She’ll always live in my heart.
I know that she’s in a safe place.
It’s just hard to be apart.

But anyone who knew My Sydnie,
Knew what a joy she was
And I know that she’s in Heaven
Looking over us.
