To My Son Sean (22)
My son died from "poison" purchased on the internet at college. His aunt, Patricia Herbst, wrote this poem.
Hey man, you want to smoke some pot,
It's ok, I don't do it a lot
Hey man, I want to buy some weed,
I do it cause I want, not because I need
Hey man, you want to try this pill,
It's really cool, a brand new thrill
Hey man, They call it ecstasy,
It's the coolest drug, you'll ever see
Hey man, I met a chemist friend
Little did I know it would be the end
Hey man, the internet is the connection,
for a completely new drug collection
Hey man, I tried to reach my peak,
A greater high I would try to seek
Hey man, I thought it would be a blast
I never intended it to be my last
Hey man, it's too late for me,
but not for you or your family
Hey man, I didn't die in vane,
if other kids don't do the same
Hey man, I thought that drugs were ok,
but there has to be a better way
Hey man, keep your head cool and straight,
You're still alive, it's not too late.
