Poem:
"The Queen City"
The Charlotte Hornets are the only team for you. Or the Charlotte Checkers win in hockey, too. The hydroelectricity lights up the sky. So, all the hydroelectricity makes the city bright. Charlotte grew because of the building of the railroad. The whistle on the train fades down the track. A transportation city is Charlotte. And for the trucking and the fun amusement park. I'd like to live in that city, Which is the largest city in the state.
| Story: "Lost in Charlotte"
One day my class was going to visit Charlotte. We loaded up on the bus and left. Finally, we got there.
First, we went
to the Jay Murray Atkins Library. We saw lots of books and the librarian
read us a book called "Uncle Jed's Barbershop." It was a good story. We
loved it. Then we
went to the news station...Channel 3. We got to look around the station
and watched them film the 12:00 Noon News. Finally, it was time to leave.
V__, A__,
and I were still watching the news. Our class left us! Then we found out
we had been left. We knew that our class was going to the Light Factory.
So V__, A__ and I tried to find out where the Light Factory was. We had
passed it on the way to the news station. So we thougth we could find it.
We traced our path for 5 miles.
"Look!" said V__ in excitement. "This is the Light Factory!"
So V__,
A__ and I all ran inside and did not see our class. We asked a man where
our class was. He said they were upstairs touring the machines. We ran up the stairs but saw no one that we knew. We thought they had already finished.
Then we
headed to Charlotte Campus where the Charlotte Hornets play basketball.
V__ about fainted when he saw Glenn Rice, Dale Curry, and Lottie Devoc.
They are Charlotte Hornet basketball players. We asked them if they had
seen our class. They said yes. We were so happy! The guys said they're
in the musuem. We went to the museum and we found them. We sneaked into the line.
We went
back to the Charlotte Campus again. We shot basketball for 30 minutes with
Glenn Rice, Dale Curry, and Lottie Devoc. After that, we all went home and
we were glad to. We had fun! |
