Nymphs

- Hamadryads
- These nymphs lived as the inhabitant spirts of trees. Their mother was the Earth God Gaea. A Hamadryads lived only as long as her particular tree lived.
- Hyades
- Daughters of Atlas and Aethra, and sisters to the Pleiads. They were associated, as stars, with the rainy season. One story was that they cried themselves to death when their brother Hyas was killed. They were also the nurses of Dionysus.
- Limnades
- Nymphs of lakes, marshes, and swamps, They mislead travelers by crying for help.
- Nereids
- They are the fifty sea nymphs. They are the daughters of Nereus and Doris. The most famous is Amphitrite, the wife of Poseidon.
- Oceanides
- Nymphs of the great ocean stream which, in ancient greece, flowed continually around the Earth.
- Oreads
- Nymphs of mountains and caves.
- Pleaids
- Nymphs that were pursued by Zeus, to escape they changed into a constellation.
