The #50 in John #50
What's with the #50?
The symbolism of the #50 started back in my football years. Throughout my junior high years I spent my time wearing #88 and then #44. When I finally made it into high school, I was called upon to help out on the offensive line & there are certain restrictions for a lineman’s number. Mainly, linemen cannot wear receiver or running back numbers. I am very reflective & wanted a symbolic number. Since #22 was definitely out of the question (next in the trend I had set from previous #s), because it was a running back #. I looked at the trend from another perspective; HALF. If I couldn’t have half of my previous number, then I would take THE HALF of all the numbers. No, not 49.5 (jerseys only go to 99). I’d take #50. You gotta round up, silly!
But after awhile I began looking @ the #50 jersey from another perspective. (*Football enthusiasts often go very deep in their “philosophic approach” to things) My jersey had another side to it and with that side another #50; the missing half.
Sometimes it’s hard to see the whole picture. People, especially football players, are hard to read & get an accurate read of at first glance. It’s not just jerseys and people either. There is so much we miss in skimming over the surface; taking things at face value. You really have to dig deeper & begin to understand the complete picture. Sometimes it takes faith, evidence of things not yet seen. Patience is just as important. The “jersey” will move as the “player” does & all markings (of affiliation & identification) will be revealed.
The #50 is a glimpse of what has shaped my perspective. I continue to dig into life & its meaning & also have found other numerical significances to share. Please follow your curiosity to my philosophy page or click on the pic below to see some of my football stuff.
