Please pardon if I offend-NOT
Hello, I received this letter and just had to respond, to those who haven't seen the letter before should read it first...
And now the reply,
They, Oklahoma School officials did the right thing. "God Bless America" Is offensive... Why because I for one beleive in MANY God's and Goddess's. As a Wiccan, Pagan, Witch! I call upon all, but one!!! I cannot follow any god that's this jealous that claims to be "the god of love". Now if anyone wishes to put up "God's Bless America" they have my permission to do so.(LOL) Why, because when you have a seperation between church and state, ANY reference to any one god IS offensive! So the rule of the day is, All or None!
Next 3 paragraph's, Why remove the American Flag? Or its colors? All that it shows is We of America are for America! A firetruck in America should have an American Flag on it. And as for being proud to be American's arn't we as Americans supposed to be proud to be Americans? Why we're so proud to be Americans in this house, and disagreed with the sudden jump in price, that we made our own.

When you have the eyes of the world on you, you need to be "politically correct". Or else, you'll have some idiot, who will want to blow up somebody or something. In a society, any society, you'll have nitpickers, those who's job it is to split hairs. Then common to the breed, they chose the worst case scenerio and see how it can be stopped, before it becomes a problem! Live with it!
Are you sure you don't need to understand? That people hold a difference of opinion, and not all opinions fit with one another? And if you can agree to disagree, then you might not be a bad person to know.
Ah but it is every person's responsibility to continually try not to offend. Now me for example I'm not using the "colorful metaphor's" that I would have liked to use. Because if I did people would be less inclined to actually read what I have to say. Now when you said, "our sovereignty and our national identity," Did we ever have one of those??? The dictionary defines sovereignty as, 1 obs: supreme excellence or an example of it 2 A: supremepower over over a body politic B: freedom from external control C: controlling influence 3: one that is sovereign; esp: an autonomous state. We Americans live not in the land of the free, but in the land of you are free to do as you are told! Is that your defenition of Sovereignty? And as national identity goes we've never really had one of our own, for as you pointed out, we the people of America are from those who came before us, from other lands and cultures. the only American way we in America have is the pursuit of MONEY, lots of MONEY, proof you ask? ok let's go forward to "In God We Trust" but its not complete yet, In America and the American way it should say, In God We Trust all others pay cash!!! That's why its on all our money... National Identity??? History shows we americans are self-centered people, for we don't really care for other lands, or what is done in them, to them, until it is brought home ie: Pearl Habor, WTC. Now there have been times when we wake up, swat at a few flies, roll over then go back to sleep. Currently our interactions with other countries doesn't exist because its the right thing to do, but because we as Americans wish to keep our own butts safe!
We as Americans do speak Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian AND English! Do you know how hard it is to learn a second language? Have you ever tried to learn a second language? I did I tried my hand at Spanish, and I didn't learn a thing on how to speak, let alone the words to use. So when I speak to someone who uses broken english, I give them a break for they are doing better then I did in a second language. Now we who use english are lucky, for its becoming a international language (if not already). Now this should not stop us as americans from learning other languages. Were CHRISTIANS the only religion here in America during the early years? NO!!! It was not, they may have had majority, but were not the only ones. Take my forefathers, the pagans, we were there, but because many were taught not to show their true faith, they made themselves out to look like christian. Pagans were hiding from people like Charlemagne, he imposed baptism by the sword. Or
Patrick (Saint Patrick for those who wouldn't reconize this murderer for what he was)! Beacuse of these christians, and others like them my people went into hiding, saying they were christian but in there hearts they were not. And they were justified in hiding by Salam, Mass.
Now I don't care where (our forefathers of America) wrote anything, on buildings, on money that's not worth the paper its written on, our forefathers are "politically incorrect" to today's needs.
Why should I leave? (I'll get back to this later) Is it my fault you worship a dark god, for that's how I think of him. Your mistake in this paragraph is to assume (that's make a ASS out of U and ME) that other faiths don't have any right to be here in this country. Why do you celebrate these days as you do? lets take his Birthdate, 12/25 I do hope you are aware that nobody knows the exact day he was born, right. He was born during tax time(see below), or so the bible says and when is taxes ever done in winter? It wasn't. Now the reason for that date was because there were a lot of pagans who wouldn't listen to the christian church. So to make themselves more appealing, they (the christians) made holidays at on or around the pagan holidays. Our hoilday is Yule 12/21. Here's a challenge I extend to all, find out what the pagan holidays are, then match them to the christian holidays. See what you can find. And as to why people in America use the christian holidays its because some group of christians felt inscure enough that they insisted on having those days, nobody found any objections so those holidays were made. As for songs Christians only want what seems to be christian, for anything that is not christian offends them. (general view) Not many people I've ever known have a problem with "Uncle Sam" just with those who run "Uncle Sam's" office!
You must think you're a queen, for in this letter you use the royal plural a lot. I do hope you know that there are no queens here in America, oh that's right there are queens, but you'd have to be male to be one of those...
"I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great American freedom, the right to leave."(copied from below) If we Americans have the right to leave, why is suicide against the law? Me, I'm what is called a depressive. So I REALLY want out not just out of this country but out of this life! Now leaving the U.S. won't change what's wrong with me, nor do I know any other language other than english. Also I will not have a way to support myself and survive. Let alone leave my friends and family behind.
"Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion about our government, culture, or society, and we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life." (Also copied from below) People the world over want things better then they are, I'd think by this letter, you'd do some changes if you could, but you can't, so that's why you're the one complaining, whining, and griping as is your right here in America.
Please feel free to forward this letter to anyone you'd think might wish to read it. Now I don't like writing letters for they tend to bring my depression up to full strength. So it took me about 3 days (non-consecutive days), also I looked at a dictionary for the words I'd knew I would mispell, something I wouldn't normally do.

Some time ago I relized that Jesus wasn't where he was because of taxes, but due to the census, so the government could see how many people it had, so that they could know how much to tax.

THIS SAYS IT ALL!!!!! and then some !!!!
Broken Arrow, Oklahoma School officials remove "God Bless America" signs from schools in fear that someone might be offended.
Channel 12 News in Long Island, New York, orders flags removed from the newsroom and red, white, and blue ribbons removed from the lapels of reporters. Why? Management did not want to appear biased and felt that our nations flag might give the appearance that "they lean one way or another".
Berkeley, California bans U.S. Flags from being displayed on city fire trucks because they didn't want to offend anyone in the community.
In an "act of tolerance" the head of the public library at Florida
Gulf Coast University ordered all "Proud to be an American" signs removed so as to not offend international students.
I, for one, am quite disturbed by these actions! o! f so-called American citizens; and I am tired of this nation worrying about whether or not we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on September 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled in New
York and Washington D.C. when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.
I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. In fact, our country's population is almost entirely comprised of descendants of immigrants; however, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some native Americans, need to understand.
First of all, it is not our responsibility to continually try not to
offend you in any way. This idea of America being a multi! -c! ultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language, and our own lifestyle. This culture, called the "American Way" has been
developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. Our forefathers fought, bled, and died at places such as Bunker Hill, Antietam, San Juan, Iwo Jima, Normandy, Korea, Vietnam.
We speak English, not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society - learn our language! "In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some off-the-wall, Christian, Right Wing, political slogan - it is our national motto. It is engraved in stone in the House of Representatives in our Capitol and it is printed on our currency. We adopted this motto because
Christian men and women, on Christian princ! ip! les, founded this nation; and this is clearly documented throughout our history. If it is appropriate for our motto to be inscribed in the halls of our highest level of Government, then it is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.
God is in our pledge, our National Anthem, nearly every patriotic song, and in our founding documents. We honor His birth, death, and resurrection as holidays, and we turn to Him in prayer in times of crisis. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture and we are proud to have Him.
We are proud of our heritage and those who have so honorably defended our freedoms. We celebrate Independence Day, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Flag Day. We have parades, picnics, and barbecues where we proudly wave our flag. As an American, I have the right to wave my flag, sing my national
anthem, qu! ot! e my national motto, and cite my pledge whenever and wherever I choose. If the Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.
The American culture is our way of life, our heritage, and we are
proud of it. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. We are Americans, like it or not, this is our country, our land, and our lifestyle.
Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his
opinion about our government, culture, or society, and we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great American freedom, the right to leave.
Sadly the person who wrote this Oringal letter has been unavable for comment...
