Time for a lesson in conservative logic:

Taxes

This is partly true, but only because the burden of taxes has been shifted from the aristocracy to the people. Canada's 1987 "Tax reform" reduced the corporate tax rate by 8%. A number of corporations totaling $27 billion in profits paid no tax whatsoever. In 1989 this included a number of corporations with profits over $100,000,000!

While politicians go on about taxes, they don't mention the military, for example, the 4.4 billion paid by Canadians for 50 helicopters. (Sure, some of them are for search and rescue - so we've decided that saving one or two careless yaught-racers is better than saving a million people from poverty) Or how about $480,000 for the Queen and her junket to visit via concord - while women her age are hungry.

These all have publically known price-tags. But when we look at the government's nifty pie chart showing where our tax money goes, where exactly is the cost of sending 22 executives to China with the trade minister? Or 23 politicians to "work" with American politicians - at a Florida Luxury resort!
