NOTE: I now have full length mp3's for the clips below at HERE. These are the full tapes ripped into mp3's, and hosted at rapidshare.

Here is a KOME radio (San Jose, CA, USA) Christmas promo spot which aired in 1978. This is off an old cassette, where I used to hodge podge stuff off the radio, so not smooth edits, intros may be missing etc. . You can hear DJ Dennis Erectus explain how to "handle" the Christmas tree:

KOME RADIO CHRISTMAS SPOT ---

I finally upgraded the above XMas spot to 64kbps mp3 from the old WebTV 8K 30-second max wave files, and will plan to do the same for the rest of this site soon, as I had to split anything over 30 seconds, and even the 64k mp3 sounds mauch better thab the 8K WebTV wav. KOME jingles 1978:

J1 --- J2 --- J3 --- J4

Decal Spots 1978:

I also seen similar decals in the Bay Area at the time that said "COKE 99.5" instead, that I presume came from a headshop.

D1 --- (D2a - D2b)

Erectus Wrecks a Record: KOME played rock, no disco, and Dennis Erectus made sure he took a swipe at disco every so often, by "wrecking" a (disco) record, in this case, "Shake Your Booty". He comments about it below in file DE6. --- WRECK

Dennis Erectus himself (the funniest of all the DJ's at the time, IMO:

DE1 --- DE2 --- DE3 --- DE4 --- DE5 --- DE6

Then there was the TV show, movie, or other lead in clips often placed before songs:

C1 --- C2 --- C3

No discussion of late 70's Bay Area radio would be complete without a tribute to the legendary KFAT, in the garlic capitol of the world, Gilroy, CA. These clips are also from 1978:

FAT1 --- FAT2 --- FAT3 --- FAT4
