[ Mantle Cell Lymphoma ]

Growing our tumor cell line is a reasonable first approach to cancer treatment.

For biologists, that would be the way to start off.
Strangely, the way our medical service has evolved,
it is not the standard medical technique.

Any protestation based on economic arguments begs the question.
Medical costs take a large share of humanity's total product.
How much of that is for cancer treatments which are ineffective or harmful?
Cell culture is not very costly in comparison.
Medical science has ignored this approach.
The scientific community presses the question.

What's up with this?
Culturing individual cancer cell lines
is not the only way to learn how to defeat cancer.
Yet since it is the most obvious approach, in terms of science,
medicine has been negligent in not making this
a standard part of cancer therapy.

The information we lose by failing to culture every human cancer,
could well mean the difference between curing cancer,
and continuing to fight hopelessly against it.
We victims of mantle cell lymphoma have decided
to promote the cultivation in vitro of our tumor cell lines.
We each want to benefit personally from the extra knowledge gained by this.
Not all of us will.
But maybe some of us will.

One day, somebody will die of old age,
instead of mantle cell lymphoma.
That will be our first victory.
Tsunami Surfers
is our project for cell line culturing.
It is a group formed by patients and caregivers.
