ANDY LAU (JUST FOR YOU) (BMG MUSIC) (MAY00)
2000年超值EP榮耀登場     港台同級包裝同步面市

An EP release by Heavenly King Andy Lau (or Liu De Hua).

There are altogether four songs of different languages : one Cantonese, one Mandarin and two English tracks.

The Cantonese track is an original Hong Kong composition titled "Give Myself To You".  It is composed by Wu Le Cheng and written by Andy.

The Mandarin number "You Are My Proudest Thing In Life" is a Korean composition with the Mandarin lyrics written by Andy himself.

One of the English tracks "I'm Easy" is the title track of Andy's official website andylau.com.

The second English song "In Your Eyes" caught my attention the most because it is composed, written, arranged and produced by American piano talent Jim Brickman himself.  It is a duet sung together with a Philippines female singer Sharon Cuneta.

The EP CD is in AVCD format, which means it doubles up as a VCD which contains the four music videos of all the above-mentioned songs.

「李度 尋他千百度」新歌加精選     2首新歌加13首     戀戀李度說愛
歷年銘心戀曲全記錄

After a three-year hiatus, Li Du (or Lesley) is finally back to participate in the collection craze.  Her latest release is a compilation album which contains two new songs and thirteen old tracks taken from her previous four albums.

One of the new songs is a somewhat out-dated sounding song called "Get Used To Oneself" written by Pan Xie Qing.  The lyrics are reportedly a reflection of Li Du's own feelings in her personal life.

The second new track is titled "Eyes" which is composed by her mentor Emil Chau (or Zhou Hua Jian) and written by TV host Huang Zi Jiao.

Her old hits, which are contained in this collection, include "Can't Bear To Open My Eyes" (or She Bu De Ba Yan Jing Zheng Kai), "Tomorrow I'm Marrying You" (or Ming Tian Wo Yao Jia Gei Ni), "Commit A Sin Because Of Love" (or Wei Ai Fan Le Zui) and a song that I like very much "Enough" (or Gou Le).  Refer below for the full song listing in Big 5 Chinese.

When I looked at the cover pic of Andy Hui's very first Mandarin collection album, it immediately reminded me of the cover pic of his best-selling Cantonese album (which incidentally is also a compilation release) "End Of Century Collection" (refer below for the pic) minus the devil's ears.

BEAUTY HO (HOU XIANG TING) (VIRGIN MUSIC) (MAY00)
秋天之後 春風來了!
7個月不見的侯湘婷笑容依舊燦爛

The self-titled second album from Beauty Ho (or Hou Xiang Ting) is out in the record stores now.

As with her debut album, most of the tracks here are light-tempo and easy-listening.  However her record company has once again chosen a slow ballad to be the first single which is just fine with me because the track "The Tears I Shed For You" is a nice haunting sentimental song.  It is written by Yao Qian and composed by uprising China song writer Xiao Ke (or Ke Zhao Lei, the same guy who wrote Elva's R&B track "Best Known Stranger" or "Zui Shou Xi De Mo Sheng Ren" and Sandy Lam's "Disappear" or "Shi Zong").

A note-worthy mention is that she did a Mandarin cover "It's All Real" of the Japanese hit "Believe" (originally sung by Yuko Yamaguchi or Shan Kou You Zi) from the popular TV serial "Overtime" starring Takashi Sorimachi (or Fan Ding Long Shi).

Other recommended songs by the record company include the lively "The Real You" composed by Zheng Hua Juan and the ballad song "Away From The Day" which is another cover of a Japanese song composed and originally sung by Miyuki Nakajima (or Zhong Dao Mei Xue).

A slow composition titled "Sleepless Nights" written by singer Cheer Chen (or Chen Qi Zhen) is also found here.

Producers include Will Lin (or Lin Wei Zhe, the same guy who is romantically linked to Faith Yang Nai Wen), Peter Wong and a Malaysian trio production team by the name of Playtime Production.

If you have RealPlayer , you can click below to preview five of the new tracks.
