LI YU HUAN (TECHNO.LOVE)
(MAGIC STONE MUSIC) (SEP00)
|
一張用耳朵聽用身體舞動
才能產生快感的專輯
|
For those uninitiated, Li Yu Huan may be best
remembered as the male member of the techno dance duo group DM
DM who released their debut album way back in 1996. This
is also the same group who brought us "Loving You Is My Own
Fault" (or Ai Shang Ni Shi Wo De Cuo).
After so many years, he has finally
released his own solo effort. As its title "Techno.Love"
implies, the album music is purely techno (coupled with a strong
Pet Shop Boys music influence), with all the songs being
composed and arranged by the talented guy himself.
The first single cum title track
"Techno Love" is a whopping six-minute plus track
composed and written by Li.
Two note-worthy mentions :-
- Singer Cheer Chen (or Chen Qi Zhen) wrote
the lyrics of four of the songs here, including the second
single "Butterfly" and the third single "Don't
Love Me". His latter work "Don't Love Me"
was originally recorded by Karen Mok and contained in her "It's
Karen Mok" release.
- Faith Yang Nai Wen lent her vocals in a
duet track "High". Li Yu Huan has the honour of
being the first male artiste to sing alongside the winner of
this year's Golden Melody Best Female Singer Award. One
can understand why Faith chose to contribute her maiden duet
recording to Li : after all, her very first publicised vocal
work on entering the music showbiz was doing an acoustic
studio-live version of "Loving You Is My Own Fault"
(or Ai Shang Ni Zhi Shi Wo De Cuo).

VIVIAN HSU (FAKE ANGEL) (BMG MUSIC) (SEP00)
|
音樂沒有國界只有真實感受
1張你絕不能錯失的全方位特集
|
Vivian Hsu (or Xu Ruo Xuan) has released her
new album "Fake Angel".
Her new offering offers to bring out the
more "mature" side of Vivian via her music.
Some highlights :-
- The first
single and title track "Fake Angel" is a techno rock
number composed and produced by Wu Bai with the lyrics written
by Vivian herself. This is the first time that they have
collaborated.
- The second single "She He" is a
soft-sounding ballad composed by Luna Sea's guitarist Suzigo and
written by Vivian (gossip note : both of them are reportedly an
item together). He also provides the guitar accompaniment
in the song. Suzigo goes one step further by appearing in
the music video of "She He" with his eyes blind-folded
while playing his guitar.
- Lee Hom (or Wang Li Hong) lends his
violin skills here by playing in the beginning interlude track
"Missing Lizard".

GRACE CHOW (ZHOU HUI
COLLECTION 2 : TO LOVE YOU WELL)
(DECCA RECORDS)
(SEP00)
|
周蕙最新精選2
好想好好愛你
純釀美聲曲目全推薦都在周蕙精選
|
One of the best-selling newbies of 1999 has
released her follow up album, which is currently selling like
hot cakes both in Taiwan and Singapore.
Like her debut effort, Grace Chow's (or
Zhou Hui) latest album is also produced by Ji Zhong Ping and
Chen Zi Hong. The production cast is further boosted by
the addition of another veteran musician Huang Yi who produced
the title track cum first single ballad "To Love You
Well" which is written by the duo Chen Jian Ning/Chen Zheng
Qing and written by Wu Yu Kang.
The second single "Stand-In" is
another very nice ballad written and produced by Grace's mentor
Ji Zhong Ping.
Another note-worthy mention is that local
folk-song singers Liang Wei Feng and Tang Yu Xuan have
collaborated on a nice mid-tempo work "Angel Face"
which is included as Track 2 in the album.
Overall, the twelve-track album contains
mostly competent and radio-friendly sentimental ballads. I
guess this is the main reason why the record company continues
to title it "Zhou Hui Collection 2" as they feel that
almost all the songs here qualify as chart-topping first singles.
Other highlights :-
- Her earlier hit "Conversation
Topic" (which is included in the later-edition of her debut
album) can also be found here, no doubt to "pacify"
those fans who bought the first batches of her first album but
have limited financial resources to purchase the subsequent
re-released edition.
- Grace's solo version of "Met Too
Early" (or Xiang Yu Tai Zao) is included too, complete with
a brand new arrangement. In fact, it must be made known
that the record company has originally secured this song to be
her current album's first single. However her good friend
William So later heard and fell in love with the same track and
managed to release it earlier as his first single.
Fortunately, this doesn't affect the strong bonds between these
two "siblings" and Grace even did a duet live-concert
version with him.
- Her new album cover and inner sleeves
once more feature oriental drawings (albeit a bit more
westernised) of herself, this time being drawn by another
internationally-acclaimed artist Maurice Vellekoop who hails
from Canada.

(FORWARD MUSIC) (SEP00)

飆好戲唱好歌一年一度精裝大片
林志穎演足了男人的霸道唱遍了男人的味道
|
This new album by Jimmy Lin (or Lin Zhi Ying)
was reportedly recorded amidst his hectic filming schedules.
Just like his last album "Straw
Man", his new offering is once more produced by Wang
Zhi Ping (who handles the fast tempo tracks such as the first
single "Go For A Walk") and Chen Guo Hua (who helms
the sentimental side of Jimmy, for instance the second single
"No Regrets").
