QUICK GUIDE FOR QSEDITOR

I you read your DB50XG manual you will find some references to a QS300 Native Mode (unfortunatly very poor documented!)
After some searches (thanks Internet!) I discovered the meaning of this mode; as far I can understand, the DB50XG is more o less a reduced version of the Yamaha QS300 synthesizer with two element voices instead of four.

This characteristic allows us to expand the voices of our card via system exclusive messages up to 32 voices (instruments) at once. Also, using a little trick (sending the 3 and 4 elements of a voice to a second midi channel) we can reproduce exactly the voices of the QS300. (It's really fantastic!)

Hands on it , I made a very simple editor and voice bank program that can load and save QS300 Native Bulk Dumps for this card.
After some cosmetics, here is my first beta release. I hope you like it !. Please send me your comments or bug reports.

SETUP

Here you specify your midi input and output devices, and also the default directories for syx banks (up to 32 voices) and a main bank (a kind of library up to 1280 voices) that the program creates by default the first time you run it (look in the dir you have installed the program and you'll find a QS300.BNK file - It's 478 Kb )

The QUICK move allows changing the values of the elements' parameters simply left clicking and moving up or down the mouse.

VOICES

In this view you can load (or import) .mid and .syx files with voice definitions, and save it in .syx format that can be easly load in your favorite sequencer (Cakewalk for instance). You may also send your bank to the card.

IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THE USE OF A MULTIMIDI DRIVER (LIKE MULTIMID OR HUBI'S  LOOPBACK) IF YOU WANT TO ACCESS SIMULTANEOUSLY TO YOUR SEQUENCER USING THE SAME MIDI DEVICE.

To use these voices YOU MUST SET THE BANK PARAMETERS TO MSB=63 AND LSB=0. PROGRAM CHANGE NUMBERS WILL BE FROM 0 TO 31.

Using the arrows you can send voices definitions between the actual voice, the user and the voices bank.
(Double Click also works)

To update changes to your card you must press the TEST button. (Actual instrument will be placed on midi channel 1, and if the 3+4 button is down and the voice has more than 2 elements, the 3rd and 4th elements will be placed on channel 2)

ELEMENT

Here you define the elements' parameters (Element #1 and Element #2).
Some parameters may sound familiar and others very obscure. In a few days I'll release and updated help with more explanations.

By the way ! I you have a list of the WAVE BANKS , please send it to me
