From I-195 approaching from the east or west:

1. Take Route 140 South exit ( until its end at traffic light (at Rt. 6). [these exit signs somewhat strangely read Dartmouth if you're coming from the Cape direction, and New Bedford from the Fall River/Providence direction -- both are correct] [* 0.0 mile*]

2. Continue straight (now named Brownell Ave.) through traffic light, passing Buttonwood Park on your left, until you reach the next traffic light.

3. Turn left at light on to Hawthorne Street (park is still on your left).

4. Continue on Hawthorne until next traffic light. [*1.0 mile*]

5. Turn right on to Rockdale Avenue.

6. Continue straight through first traffic light to the second light. (The road bends to the left before approaching the second light.)

7. Turn right on to Dartmouth Street. [*2.0 miles*]

8. Continue through two traffic lights until you reach the Southworth Library on the left side of the street. The library is prominently located on a lanscaped rise of land in a modern tan-colored masonry structure. Their parking lot is actually located off a small side street bordering the north side of the library called Sol-E-Mar Road. [*3.1 miles*]

For landmarks along Dartmouth Street after the second light, look on the left for stretch of commmercial places including a Benny's, then a Papa Gino's, then finally immediately before the library, a small power equipment company called "All Seasons".
