Subject: I talked with Bell South and people here

The Bell South rep suggested that the limits we were using were for a
"data" line installed specifically for that purpose and that the signal
loss reflected in our reports are within tolerances for a voice line
which he also referred to as "c-conditioned".

I next took the liberty to see the stats for your box over the last few
days and recognized that there has been only one carrier loss in the
last four days. Please understand that an incoming call while you are
online shows as a "carrier loss" just like an inappropriate carrier
loss.

We talked more here at WebTV and came up with something else based on
the memory of earlier conversations. We believe that the local POPs
(not just yours) do timeout if they recognize no activity. Hopefully,
this makes sense, they don't want to keep their lines tied up.

This may apply to you in that I understand you type some relatively long
e-mail messages. As you type, the characters are stored locally, in the
box, then are subsequently transmitted to the POP/Internet when you are
finished. If you recognize that you disconnected at, let's say 30
minutes, every time, the POP may be cutting you off. We will not be
able to change that policy.

I am not sure that I can do anything else at this point. Good luck and
happy surfing!
