Genie Challenge Enigma

What we know: Everytime you get a magic bottle with a genie, there are always a limited amount of wishes. Well, the last time, I found a particularly generous genie(as far as the standards of genies goes) and he gave me 6 wishes. He told me of a challenge he offered. He made 4 small sections of chain with three links in each length of chain.

It looks like:

 OOO OOO OOO OOO
(assuming they are linked.)

You want to join the chains into one long loop and with that, you get infinite wishes. Opening a link of the chain is impossible except by using one of your wishes closing a link also costs 1 wish. You have 6 wishes The crux of this problem is that at first it seems that the only way to join them is by opening the end link on each chain and joining it to the next chain, which would require opening and closing 4 links and costing 8 wishes.....

Enigma: How do you hook all of the sections using only 6 wishes?

Solution: In reality, the best way to do it is to open all three links of one chain and join them like this: you start with: OOO OOO OOO OOO Open all three links of one of the lengths of chain: OOO to this: C C C Join them like this:
C O O O C
 O O
 O O
  O O
    C
Ugh! that's a horrible representation. oh well. a C is supposed to look like an open link, the O's are closed link ( they're connected to each other)

See who got this right
