King Kong Suicide Enigma

What we know: King Kong, the famous monster, is sad because he is the only monster in the world. There is no one for him to talk to. He feels like he is so bad. He decides to commit suicide in the lake outside the town he lives in. King Kong is 82 feet tall. There is an old pole in the water where he swims out to. The pole is left over from an old bridge. It is perfectly vertical and one fifth of its length is in the mud at the bottom of the lake. Two thirds of its length is in the water itself. One eighth of it is above the water. A piece from the top is broken off which would have added 1.25 feet to the total length of the pole.

Enigma: Assuming that the depth of the water has to be over King Kong's head for him to drown, can he kill himself by standing in the lake?
