Jason's Hole Enigma

Story: Jason is planting tulips along his sidewalk. Jason needs a hole so he can put in the bulbs. He asked Eric to bring his new garden tool(which can be set to dig small trenchs of any desired width). Jason took his tool and made it a certain width of "x" inches. The trench along the sidewalk is 5 feet long. 900 cubic inches of dirt was removed from Jason's hole. The tool reached into the hole by 6 inches(the length needed for tulips).

Enigma: What width did Jason set Eric's tool to?

Solution: 2.5 inches

6 * (5 * 12[feet to inches]) * x = 900

x = 3
