May 11 00. 8:22pm West. FOLLOWED a meteor in my 75mm low lux system! The 1.5 degree meteor last for 2-3 seconds, speed slow and materials are seen shedding from it. I was able to track it in foto tripod. What a luck! unfortunately I forgot to press the record button in the camcorder.. 8:38:20. NOSS 2-3 trios D - and C lead the way ( separation of 1 degree of so) followed by the E some distance behind. Mag is 7-8? (near eta Canis Major). Earlier on a unknown satellite pass through the field. (marked on maps). Again my 5 yrs old girl witnessed the NOSS.
May 13. Viewed Iridium#76 -4? mag flare at Orchard MRT station. The flare disappear around 8:22:30 pm, 52 degree and az 128(SE). I use the key-chain compass to locate my azmuith. Sky cloudy, nearby a 'bright' star suspected to be Spica. 11:00pm back at home doing some video taping.
May 14. Viewed my old 'friend' again through c8 f/20. Still could not make any devices dangling underneath the 5' dia Hydrogen meteorogical balloon. The sphere appeared to have 'equatorial-like bands' and bright spots at both ends.
May 20/21 - Tried my luck at meteors using the rather small 5x7 degree FOV. Tough, saw a total of 3 'telescopic' meteors in 2-21/2 hours! Rough guess they originate from Centaurus?. Earlier attempts to view Tips ( 7.8 mag) was not successful - didn't show up in my monitor. Woke up around 5am do a quick look at the Moon through C8 and x2 barlow/25mm.
May 21 - Sunspots aplenty today with many interesting groups - starting with a circular bipolar flanged with a- 180 degree '-U-'band of spots, another 'Foot-print'-like spots in the making, and others in-between. Obtained some decent shots using 1/2" color camera and 1"-C with stacked filters ( to cut down light). Shot through my kitchen window. Evening viewed spy satellite - Lacrosse 3 sailed through Canis Major in b/w monitor set up. Spent the rest of the night stacking my solar works.
May 23 - Missed my -7 mag Iridium for no show! Couldn't believe it. Spend the night 'scanning' the sky with my watec/tv lens setup. No meteors were detected however a scores of not less than 8 or 9 satellites got sweeped into view.
May 24 - Sweeped up to 14 satellites within 1/2 hours using my indoor sat setup engaged in chaser-mode ( 2 seconds dwell ,find and move to another new field approach). Caught two interesting flashers - the first with a 22-23 seconds period and mag of LM+6/+7 to LM4/5, the second is faster with 5 seconds flash period with a interest flare just seconds away from a 90-degree encountered with another brighter and faster sat. Seen some strange 'flashers' (suspect F->inv) punctate the sky with no apparent following trails. Working on map charting and timing next. LM of the optical system is +8.0
May 25 Completed a turbo pascal dos based extraction utility which use the listings in program.rob(~440+ entries) and extracted the corresponding tles from latest allsat.tle
