CAMELOPARDALIS
The Giraf
(Cam)


Generalities: it is a northern constellation, very close to the pole. It is made up of rather weak stars. Its transit at midnight takes place in December.

Origins and mythology: it was introduced in 1690 by Hevelius, therefore it is a “modern” constellation despite its northern position. It isn’t tied to any mythological circumstances .

Stars: the Giraf doesn't show any stars under  magnitude 4; the brightest star is beta, of magnitude 4.03, of yellow color, which is about 1,500 light- years far.

Other objects: in this small constellation some interesting weak galaxies are present.
